Introduction to presentationWelcome to this presentation on the life of the Chronicles of Narnia writer Clive Staples Lewis. Lewis was born in 1898 in Northern Ireland, he

grew up with a rich family before writing 4 novels on the Chronicles of Narnia.

Between the years of 1900 to 1963, Lewis lived in Headington Oxford. He lived at the Kilns and went to

church in Headington.

The Kilns HeadingtonThe Kilns were built in 1922 by Joseph Throne who

buit the Kilns from Brickwoodd. The kilns were then completed in 1929.

Lewis bought the Kilns in Headington in 1930 with his brother Warnie and Mrs Jane Moor. This would be the

house for Lewis to write his books and work and also a house for his Brother Warnie.

Today the Kilns are a public visting place for the public to see the house grounds, ake and gardens.

Cs Lewis death & burialOn 22nd November 1963 at 5pm in the Kilns, Lewis

suddenly collapsed and had a heart attack. He died on the same day as John F Kennedy. The news was

not spread like Kennedy’s but Lewis had a good life and his books lived on into great films.

Lewis was buried in Headington Churchyard with his brother Warnie. In 2013, 50 years later, Lewis was

commerated in Westminster Abbey in Poet’s Corner.
