Christmas can be a truly magical time for children, especially when the holidays are filled with outings, activities and special treats. Parents will also know how much the kids need entertaining over the festive period, and the exciting events at Canary Wharf give the family a wonderful variety to choose from.
Celebrations begin with Santa’s Showtime where the little ones can see Father Christmas and his friends take to the stage for a spectacular free festive show – perfect for the whole family, it’s brimming with Christmas spirit!
For little elves and angels who enjoy hands-on activities, the shopping malls will be hosting a selection of craft events during the weekends in December. Fun-packed free children’s festive activities include art and craft workshops, festive face painting and entertainment, turning Christmas shopping from a chore into a treat for everyone.
But the real highlight, as any excited child will tell you, will be Father Christmas himself, sat snug within Santa’s grotto. This year’s grotto takes the form of a spectacular sleigh pulled by two giant reindeer, piled high with glittering gifts. Located in Jubilee Place, Father Christmas will be in residence every weekend during December and Christmas week until Christmas Eve, leaving plenty of time for children to come and ask him for a special festive wish.

in a furious rush of metal on ice, the annual london ice sculpting festival is set to return to Canary Wharf for two exciting days in the new year. visitors to the Wharf are invited to come and cheer on the international teams as they battle it out in an adrenaline-fuelled race against the clock and the melting ice to bring their striking and mesmerising designs to life.
now in its fourth year, and fittingly for the year of the london 2012 olympic games, the london ice sculpting festival explores the theme of Winter sports – and the public are invited to watch all the action live in montgomery square.
the main competition will begin at 9am on friday as the teams, working against the
clock, attempt to tackle crystal clear blocks of ice reaching two metres in height, in a bid to create their own winning interpretation of Winter sports.
the audience members will also be invited to cast their own votes for the public Choice award as the festival culminates with a high-paced speed sculpting competition on the saturday, when one member from each team will take on the challenge of animating the theme team spirit in record time.
visitors can also test their own sculpting skills on a small block of ice by signing up for a free, supervised masterclass* at Canada square park or in Jubilee place – a once-in-a-
