Market Analysis Summary

The United States Wedding Industry is a $55-billion-dollar industry, and approximately 2.3 million weddings each year. These figures show the importance of the wedding industry to individuals and how nearly everyone can be a client in some form. For the calendar year 2015, 959 marriage certificates were issued in Wayne County, NC. After careful research only one wedding planner was located in the Wayne County area. No wedding planning company could be located within a forty-mile radius in any direction. This shows a very strong need for a wedding planning company in the area that will be convenient for engaged couples residing and/or marrying in the Wayne County area. With such few resources in the area, a wedding planning company will succeed as it is providing busy couples in the local area with a more local knowledge and convenience for the couple.

Because of the high volume of marriages in Wayne County, as evidenced by the number of marriage licenses issued, there will be a high demand and customer base for such services. Also, because many military members live in the surrounding area many need wedding planners to plan weddings in other locations, including destination and their home state. Advertising will be directed to almost everyone, including newly engaged couples, parents of both the bride and groom and military members as nearly everyone at some point participates in a couples nuptials. The target audience will be newly engaged couples, regardless of age, budget or religion.

Lydias Planning & Coordination Services intends to help couples navigate through the wedding industry for needed services and products. The company will focus intently on working within the wedding industry, both local and beyond.

Strategy & Implementation Summary

Lydias Planning & Coordination Services hopes to offer a variety of wedding planning, coordination, decorating and management services. Target audience will include newly engaged couples of any age. The company strategy is to obtain name recognition within the immediate location by attracting new clients by offering services not readily available in the area. Once a client is obtained other additional services for their convenience will be offered for their convenience. This will also help build client relationships that will last beyond just the wedding event.

It is the goal to work with local newspapers, radio stations and television channels to obtain discounted advertising pricing by offering event planning services. Also advertising on social media and other free websites will help to get the word out and attract clients. It is also the goal to advertise in the local military monthly magazines by working out an agreement with public affairs to gain more military clients. By also being utilizing search engine optimization and local social media sites, the company plans to move to publications directed towards engaged couples.

The company also plans to contact and visit local vendors to understand their services and products, and build relationships and rapport to gain support in the local area. Through these relationships Lydias Planning & Coordination Services hopes to secure referrals both directed to vendors and the Coordination Service. Also, an office space downtown is to be rented to allow office space for meetings and make it an easy location to travel to.

Lydias Planning & Coordination Services will be able to succeed in this market due to the number of weddings and very little competition in the surrounding area. Because the company is very knowledgeable about the area and available option the company will work well with local clients. As the clientele grows, Lydias Planning & Coordination Services hopes to hire additional employees to assist.

Management Summary

Lydias Planning & Coordination Services is a start-up company that provides Day of Coordination, partial and full planning, wedding, and vow renewal services to couples and their families. It will be run as a sole proprietorship by the owner and operator, Lydia Neurath who will handle all day-to-day operations. Outside professionals, including a Certified Public Accountant for business accounting and tax preparation, will be hired for services on an as needed basis. For decorating purposes Lydias family and friends have agreed to assist when needed. Interns interested in the wedding industry will be utilized on a part time basis to assist in Day of coordination, local events, planning, and reception as needed and as the intern is available. This will help provide experience to students and assistance to Lydias Planning & Coordination Services.

As the company progresses and revenue begins to accrue, the company will consider registering as a limited liability corporation or possible corporation. During the transition, Lydia hopes to hire a full time receptionist to handle incoming calls, emails and customer assistance along with part time planner to assist during Day of Coordination. Lydia plans to keep a certified public accountant as the company grows and hire specifically for the company should revenue allow.

Lydia Neurath plans to overall manage all aspects of the company and create a manual of all areas for any new hires to review. It is the desire to remain a small business focused on the customer relationship. Lydias Planning & Coordination feels this small business feel will fit well in the local area market.
