an honest-to-goodness design affair

...is my eyesight. It is widely accepted that everyone loves Christmas, or an as-pect of this time of year at the very least, with the one documented exception being that British grump back in 1843. At the risk of echoing his sentiments, there are two things I can’t stand about the seasonal celebrations: “A Christ-mas Story” and amnesty for tinsel.

If I see one more bachelor pad plastered with electric candy colors that mistake joyful holiday spirit with the visual equivalent of a squealing teen, I’ll spend all my Christmas futures blindfolded in denial. For more appropriate and guest-friendly decoration, go outside, pick something that’s still green, and arrange the real colors of the season around a few pieces like these.

1. Jingle Bells Shotgun Shells Christmas Lights by Keystone from Amazon - For when you need to fight fire with fire, these are the best kind of tacky in the most awesome way possible. Perfect for adding an in-stant overdose of testosterone to your woman’s illuminated North Pole plush doll collection that you know won’t be going anywhere.

2. French Bronze Stag Statue Signed Lecourtier Deer from Canonbury Antiques - Forget Ru-dolf, stags are where it’s at, and that’s not just shameless self-promotion.

3. Standing Driftwood Candelabra from Rain Collection - Candelabras aren’t just for opera phantoms. All proper feasts need a centerpiece, and this is a little more portable than the fireplace if you need ambiance.

4. Birch Bark Candle from Terrain - Just try to think of a mood that isn’t enhanced by candles. From brood-ing to romance to birthdays, their ver-satility runs the gamut. Holidays are no exception, besides a candelabra wouldn’t be much use without them.
