Administrative Updates:
Dr. Schwenn gave brief campus updates and announced Dr. Sandra Stone’s (VPAA)
resignation again.
Scott Bailey spoke about new lighting on campus around the gym and also fixing old
lights. He updated the SGA about the renovations to the Technical Education Building,
and he stated that a new student housing plan will not be chosen until after the local
elections. Construction should start construction around May 15. Lastly, Mr. Bailey
mentioned three different plans for renovating the Pope Student Center.

elections
Fidel Gonzalez announced that the Non-Religious club will be helping with the Rape
Awareness campaign.
Mathew Do mentioned a PC Gaming event will be held October 2nd in the Game Room at
3:00 p.m.
Stephani Schmidt announced orientation leader applications go out Monday the 29th.
Adrianna Cunningham announced that the Accounting Club is going to the Federal
Reserve October 3rd.
Montana Gray announced that CAB will be hosting LGBT week the first week in
October.

Dr. Johnson gave a synopsis about the new housing plan proposals as well as made an
announcement that Cheryl Owens will be speaking on the benefits of having a nurse on
campus.
Katherine Fromm welcomed Dr. Myer as the new Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Dr. Myer spoke briefly to the student body.

Dr. John Schwenn announced that Margaret Venable will be the Interim President for Dalton State
College. He also spoke about repairs to the street lights around the parking garage, and soon Christmas
tree lights will be added to the tree on the main front lawn.
Dr. Jodi Johnson stated there will be a reception for students to meet the new Interim President in
January.
Scott Bailey spoke about plans for renovating the Student Center, and adding lockers to campus.
Dr. Andy Meyer asked all students to please submit evaluations.

Jami Hall mentioned that if a group reserves a room on campus after hours to not remove or move any
of the furniture. If the room is not arranged as requested, please call Public Safety to arrange the room
as requested.

Katherine Fromm welcomed Margaret Venable, Dalton State’s new Interim President.
Dr. Meyer announced that Dalton State will be gaining an Associate’s degree in arts and music next
fall.
Derek Waugh presented an analysis of the Student Athletics Fee.
Dr. Jodi Johnson announced the addition of See Something Do Something A-frames around the school.
These signs will provide information to students about how they can reach a consular, support group,
or anonymously refer a student in need to a consular.
Dr. Johnson presented a model of what the new residence hall for students living on campus will be.
Auxiliary Services presented the Roadrunner Card Office’s Fiscal Year 2014 Expense Report and
reported the predicted 2015 Spring Expenses Report. They also announced new charging stations for
fall of 2015 and the new opening of the Rage Café.

Motion: Montana Gray moved to approve new Tech Fee changes. Motion Carried Motion: Khaneese Phillips moved to approve the Student Chapter of the Georgia Association of Educators as a registered Student Organization. Garret Burgner with Campus Recreation announced Dalton State may build a turf field by the gym next fall
Kenneth Ellinger spoke to the students of the SGA to push the Georgia legislator to reduce the cost of college for all Georgians.

Motion Carried Administrative Updates: Dr. Margaret Venable thanked all students and staff for supporting the Roadrunners’ Basketball team during the NAIA championship tournament. Scott Bailey announced that renovations to the Technical Building were almost complete. The Dalton State Student Center has been proposed a 4 million dollar budget and is awaiting approval by the Governor of Georgia. Housing demolition is scheduled to start May 13th.
Dr. Jodi Johnson stated that DSC is searching for a place to open a health services facility on campus. Also she announced Jose Vargas is speaking at Dalton High school April 8th at 6:30.
Dr. Andy Meyer spoke about the Student Scholar Showcase in Peeples Hall, April 17. New Business: Motion: Jonathan Schwan moved to approve budget of $940 for Presidential Leadership Conference. Motion Carried Motion: Jonathan Schwan moved to approve a $1,000 budget for two students to attend the Front Row Club Summit Leadership Conference. Motion Carried Motion: Kayla Almazan moved to approve the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPHA) to RSO status. Motion Carried Announcements: Drew Serrette announced that Residential Life is hosting a movie night Tuesday 31st at 7:30.
Dalton State will be receiving a minor in Health and Wellness starting this summer, and an associate degree in Music.
Romeo and Juliet will premier April 10th, and continue to the 12th.

Dr. Margaret Venable thanked all students for such an amazing semester.
Dr. Jodi Johnson wished students good luck on all their finals!
Mr. Scott Bailey announced that updates to the technical building are complete, and thanks student
for an amazing year.
Dr. Andy Myers thanked students for such a productive year at Dalton State College.
Old Business: Motion: The motion to approve Alpha Omicron Pi $635 was approved via e-vote by the Budget Committee. Dr. Lugthart’s request of $1918.78 for new trail signs and kiosk was referred to the general college budget. Leslie Elrod’s request of $4074.50 for PBL National Leadership Conference was referred to the Academic
Budget.
New Business:
Motion: Johnathan Schwan moved to amend the SGA Constitution to create a Senator position for the Office of
Hispanic and Latino Outreach.

Amber Lesicko announced
o Dalton State is looking to expand Greek Life on campus by adding one Fraternity and Sorority
by 2016.
o Food for finals will be Wednesday April 29th in the Pope Center.
o Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th CAB will be hosting Campus Spa Days.
o RSO Fair Resource Fair, RSO surveys, and RSO summer contacts will be sent out via email on
April 24, and need to be responded to as soon as possible.
Austin Wade will be presenting “Why Government Sucks and What You can do About it” Monday April
27 in Memorial 130, at 3:30.
Traffic Appeals Committee announced that Residential parking closest to the brown Center will only be
available for campus residence during the Fall of 2015 and Spring of 2016.
Graduation will be May 9!
September 27th will be the DSC leadership conference.

Officer Transition: Outgoing SGA Senators and executives were thanked for their service and hard work for the
2014-2015 year, and all incoming SGA members were welcomed to their new position.
