First Kitchen Table Conversation David Call Graphite/Prismacolor pencil 50,000 years ago, Cro-magnon people used natural sign language first to talk before spoken language. Their kitchen table was fire pit so everyone can see each other clearly and its bright. It's predecessor to modern Deaf kitchen table. This Cro-magnon family were chatting excitingly about a successful mammoth hunt. Can you figure what each person in the back is signing? They are using classifier a lot.

"Five Panels and The Round Table" Bethaney Hall 8.5 by drawing paper, black ink and sharpie The first day I started this challenge- I already knew what I wanted to do for the last motif- round table. I remember two things when walking into the cafeteria for the first time at Gallaudet: Chuck Baird's The Five Panel - Deaf Experiences and a sea of round tables. Just like that I was home. I definitely will revisit this drawing. Also - thank you all for ur "likes", comments, feedback and support. It has been a dream of mine to do this kind of work. It's been liberating.
"Isolation from the deaf children" Takiyah Harris Mixed Media The description: I was a young girl in Deaf education class with other deaf students. My former classmate (J) tried to hide something and she begged me to put something in my backpack in the closet. I had no idea that (J) stole something from other student. Suddenly, the teacher was a pretty aggressive to target at me. I was upset and tried to explain the truth. She refused to believe me at all and gave me the punishment. I went to the booth and continued to crying for a few hours. I was not allow to join with other students for the classes during the daytime. I tried to climb from the booth and peeked on the students with my teary eyes.
"Force me to speak the right sound by the speech therapist"

The speech therapist often interrupted me during the class and took me to the speech
therapy office with the therapist. I was frustrated and I cannot use my voice like "ch",
"k", "d", "g" and other. The speech therapist decided to pressure on my tongue with the
wooden stick. I was like I am going to choke. The speech therapist had no patience with
me and gave up with me.

True Round Table. by Nancy McCormick Thinking Olympic symbols plus basic gesture hand shapes used by hearing and Deaf around the world. Ever notice how when international Deaf get together we talk about how much same we have by trying to know. You sign "blank" how. Like cell phone, car, certain foods etc. things that bring us together. I always noticed the deep diversity among my Deaf friends, and yet the great lack among those few hearing I am able to make (who don't sign).

Not only us play cards but same many others like RRCD (Rochester deaf clubs) and their private homes. Should I explain what this art means? Nah, I think it can explain itself. smile But please notice rainbow colors of GLBT and Arnaud Balard's Deaf Union flag color. Diversity celebration among deaf and hearing signers playing cards together.
