Car Parking. First pickup will always be from the Old Gasworks Car Park (Brook Street). This pickup is set at 25 minutes before the scheduled trip departure time

shown in the brochure. The driver will wait a maximum of 5 minutes. This allows us to get to New Street around 15 minutes before departure, giving time for the remaining

passengers to arrive and board the bus. Before departing the venue for your return to Daventry, please discuss with your driver where you require dropping off i.e. Bus

Station (especially if you have bus connections to get back for), Old Gasworks Car Park, or near to where you live if in Daventry. Please don’t assume the driver will know.

Accessibility: For those passengers that use wheelchairs or have mobility issues - If you have any concerns regarding accessibility we would request that you contact the

venue and talk to them directly, or access their website. We can assist in providing contact numbers if necessary.

If you want a travel scooter for a trip you can always hire one from DACT Mobility. We do ask you to talk to the office first , to make sure we have the right type of

bus available. (N.B. Some venues do provide Scooters making it unnecessary to take your own. Ask the DACT Office if you need more details)

Cancellations: These can affect a lot of people and it may result in trips being cancelled due to insufficient numbers or members losing the opportunity to get group rate

Memorial Gardens 10.30am 3.30pm £12 The Arboretum is 150 acres of trees & memorial gardens – to both military and civilian services. Beautiful and interesting place to walk round with a wide range of memorials and many varieties of trees. There is also a building housing a moving account of life as a Far East prisoner of war and the building of the Bridge over the River Kwai. One side of the arboretum is bordered by the River Tame, a lovely place to walk and view the wildlife. There is a road train that circuits the Arboretum (small cost). Mobility scooters are available. Entry is free, but there is a recommended £5 donation

Hidcote gardens are the creation of one man, Lawrence Johnston. He designed the gardens to be a series of ‘outdoor rooms’ each with their own character. Wed 22nd Wightwick Manor Wolverhampton

House & Gardens 10am 3.15pm £15 Liberal MP John Mander had been left this 1887 timber framed house by his father Theodore. Taking inspiration from a lecture on ‘the House Beautiful’ by Oscar Wilde, Theordore and his wife Flora have decorated its interiors with the designs of William Morris. It is a house with a pre-Raphaelite art collection and William Morris interior designs. Outside there are formal and informal gardens and orchard. Having given the house to the National Trust, Geoffrey & Rosalie became its live-in-curators, opening the house to the public and adding to its contents. Scenic Town 9.30am 3pm £16 Once one of the busiest ports in Europe, Brignorth is now a tranquil town set on the River Severn. The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town linked by 7 sets of ancient donkey steps and a Victorian funicular railway. The world famous Kew covers 325 acres and includes lakes, extensive walkways, themed areas and a number of greenhouses housing a wide array of temperate and tropical plants and trees, alpines and orchids. Mobility scooters are available (book in advance). There is a land train (approx £5 for the day) that allows you to stop at various points around Kew. With our excellent agreement with Kew we are able to offer this trip at a total cost of £21.00 (Bus and entry combined).

Mon 3rd Burghley House, Stamford House & Gardens 10.15am 3.30pm £16 Built in the 16th century Burghley has over 115 rooms. There is also an Orangery Restaurant, giftshop, gardens and parkland walks (laid out by Capability Brown). Burghley’s Staterooms are described as breathtaking and include a large collection of fine art from around the world. The gardens are the Garden of Surprises, the Sculpture Gardens and the Deer Park. Entry: Adult £19. There is a discount if we have 20 or more passengers.

Tues 4th Tissington Well Dressing / Fairways Garden Centre Derbyshire

Peak District 10am 3.15pm £17 First stop is Fairways Garden Centre, Ashbourne, for refeshments. Then a short scenic ride to Tissington to see the centuries old art of well dressing. Should be around 6 wells that will be dressed. Dressing consists of erecting boards covered in clay, into which thousands of flower petals are pressed to create a tableaux of some biblical or topographical scene. You can also potter round the lovely village and pop into the Olde World Sweet & Antique shop and the Butchers. Entry is free.

Animal Hospital 11am 3pm £13 St. Tiggywinkles is a Wildlife Hospital Trust, a specialist Hospital dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating all species of British Wildlife. Since opening its doors, Tiggywinkles has treated over 200,000 ‘patients’. All British wildlife brought to the hospital are treated free of charge and then released back in to the wild when they are fully fit. Tiggywinkles has pioneered much of the animal welfare care that is now used worldwide. We should get a short talk about the hedgehogs they have. The Visitor Centre is self-guided. Historic town 9.30am 3.30pm £18 Ludlow is a medieval market town in Shropshire, described as an architectural gem. The town centre is situated on a cliff above the River Terne. Ludlow offers a wide and varied range of individualistic shops, including traditional family businesses where shopping for food, clothing, crafts, gifts, antiques, art, books and many specialist products is an enjoyable voyage of discovery. A Local Farmer’s Market is held on the second Thursday of each month. You can explore the back streets, visit the Castle, the Museum and St Laurence’s Church. The Millenium Green is a popular place to relax by the river, have a picnic and maybe feed the ducks.

Mon 17th Cotswolds Distillery Distillery 10.30am 3.30pm £13 First stop is the Cherington Arms for a bite to eat and then on to Cotswolds Distillery for a tour. Established in 2014 Cotswolds Distillery tries to reflect the natural beauty of North Cotswolds and honour its heritage, by using local raw materials, traditional kit and techniques and partner up with other independent producers in the area as much as possible. Described as ‘Small but perfectly formed’ the distillery building itself is a miniature version of what is usually an enormous plant, all fitted under one roof. Tues 25th Wollaton Hall Nottingham

House & Gardens 10am 3.15pm £14 Built in 1588, Grade I listed Wollaton Hall nestles in 500 acres of parkland boasting diverse habitats including grassland, wetland and woodland. Founded by King Henry IV in the 15th Century it has been completely restored and the panelled dining room is thought to be particularly impressive. The gardens are described as spectacular and include canals, island pavilions, a waterfall, sunken garden and a lovely walled garden. There is a guided tour of the Castle (approx 45 mins). Tourist Attraction 9.45am 3.30pm £15 Newark-on-Trent is a market town in Nottinghamshire on the River Trent. The origins of the town are possibly Roman, as it lies on an important Roman road, the Fosse Way. The town grew around Newark Castle, now ruined, and a large market place, now lined with historic buildings. It was a centre for the wool and cloth trades. In the English Civil War, it was besieged by Parliamentary forces and had to be relieved by Prince Rupert in a battle known as the Relief of Newark. 1st Wednesday of the month Farmer’s Market.

Tourist Attraction 11.15am 4pm £12 World famous for its code breaking activities during World War II. This is where the code breakers worked and it shows how they operated. There are a number of huts to explore, war memorabilia on display, the Victorian Mansion and much more. Free guided tours take place throughout the day. Tues 23rd Abingdon-on-Thames Oxfordshire

Historic Town 10.30am 3.30pm £13 Located six miles south-west of Oxford, the former county town of Berkshire had a slight name change in 2012 to become Abingdon-on-Thames. Best known for MG Car manufacturing, Abingdon is recognised for special architectural merit with some thirty-four 17th century buildings and twenty-two even older.

10am 3pm £15 There’s more than meets the eye at Croome. A secret wartime airbase, now a visitor centre, was once a hub of activity for thousands of people. Outside is the grandest of English landscapes, ‘Capability’ Brown’s masterful first commission, with commanding views over the Malverns. The parkland was nearly lost, but is now great for walks and adventures with a surprise around every corner. At the heart of the park lies Croome Court, once home to the Earls of Coventry. On a fascinating guided tour, step back in time at Birmingham's last surviving court of back to backs; houses built literally back-to-back around a communal courtyard. Moving from the 1840s through to the 1970s, discover the lives of some of the former residents who crammed into these small houses to live and work. With fires alight in the grates, and sounds and smells from the past, experience an evocative and intimate insight into life at the Back to Backs. Entry: Our National Trust special rate applies - £5 per person. Then on to Melbicks Garden Centre for a chance to have something to eat.

Thurs 1st Rufford Abbey & Country Park, Nottinghamshire

Shopping 11.15am 3.30pm £11 Two very different shopping experiences in Bicester – you can choose which one you want to visit. 1) Bicester Avenue is a small avenue of shops (including Lakeland, Hobbycraft, Cotton Traders) and a large Wyevale garden centre

that includes a restaurant and food hall. 2) Bicester Village is a very popular outlet for Designer brands in fashion and homeware. All leading brands are there offering goods

at discounted prices that can be as high as 60%.

Mon 5th Anglesey Abbey Cambs.

House and Gardens 9.30am 3pm £15 A Jacobean style house with fine furnishings, books, paintings, silverware and a collection of rare English & French clocks. Outside there are 114 acres of woodland paths, herbaceous gardens, Rose gardens, Dahlia gardens, formal gardens, wildflower meadows and more. There is also a working Mill and Water Wheel. Tues 6th Cotswold Wildlife Park, Burford, Oxfordshire

Wildlife Park 10.15am 3.30pm £13 Beautiful walled gardens, lovely parkland areas, a train and lots of animals. A zoo with a difference and a lovely place to visit. The walled gardens are home to the Penguins, Lemurs, exotic birds, etc. Then there are 160 acres of parkland and gardens where you can see a varied collection of mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates from around the world – including Giraffes, Rhinos, Wolves, Wallabies, Flamingos, Monkeys, Crocodiles & Lions.. Wed 7th Mystery Tour Tour 10am 5.30pm in Dav

£14 Mystery tour typically following scenic routes through villages and coutryside with stops for morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and browsing. These trips are often a “taster” for other Days Out. Approx return time, traffic dependent.

Thur 8th Stanwick Lakes Northants (in the event of wet-weather, there will be an alternative to go to the nearby Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre)

Shopping 10am 3pm £11 There are many things to do at Stanwick Lakes to keep the family happy for a full day. The central adventure playground with climbing tower, slides and sand and water play appeals to all age groups. Further afield, challenge yourself on the assault course or tackle the climbing rocks or zip wire on the adventure trail. If it is peace and quiet you are after, a network of surfaced paths lead you away from the hustle and bustle of the hub area to the wider site where you can watch the wildlife undisturbed. The bird hides provide the ideal opportunity to get close to the wildlife. Take a seat in the café whilst sampling some delicious food and drink. Discover the history of the site on the heritage trail and view archaeological finds, including a section of a Roman floor mosaic, in the visitor centre.

Tues 13th Matlock Bath & Steam Train Derbyshire

Preserved Railway 9am 3.30pm £18 Peak Rail welcomes you to journey back to a bygone age and experience the thrill of steam and diesel on the preserved railway. The line forms part of old Midland Railway between Manchester Central and London St. Pancras that was closed in 1968 and currently operates for 4 miles between Rowsley and Matlock. We leave from Rowsley Station, ticket prices unavailable at time of printing.

£24 Southsea is a seaside resort located in Portsmouth at the southern end of Portsea Island. It developed as a fashionable Victorian seaside resort and named after Southsea Castle a fort, located on the seafront and constructed in 1544 to help defend the Solent and approaches to Portsmouth Harbour. The areas surrounding Albert Road, Palmerston Road and Osborne Road comprise numerous bars, restaurants and independent shops. Palmerston Road is the main High Street of Southsea and contains two national department stores, as well as the local library. Albert Road is a distinct street containing shopping and cultural venues, which includes the Kings Theatre, a regional theatre built in 1907.

Walk 10.30am 3pm £12 A lovely circular walk along the River Cherwell in Thrupp, leaving and returning to Annie’s Tea Rooms where you can enjoy home made food and a wide variety of different types of tea.

Tues 20th Rockingham Castle Nr Kettering, Northants

Castle & Gardens 11.15am 3.30pm £11 Built by order of William The Conqueror, Rockingham Castle was host to many medieval kings. It was converted in the 16th Century to a Tudor house. It looks over the Welland Valley with fine views of five counties. The ramparts enclose 12 acres of sweeping lawns, formal and informal gardens set among the medieval fortifications. There is a circular Rose Garden and a magnificent wild garden in the ravine below. There is also a Tea Room and gift Shop. Entry: Adults £12 & £11 Concessions

Town or Gardens 10am 3.15pm £13 Stop off in the beautiful Borough of Windsor and explore Windsor Castle, the River Thames and a rich mix of history, culture, heritage and fun. Things to do include, superb shopping, restaurants and traditional pubs. Or stay on the bus and drive through Windsor to The Great Park and visit The Savill Gardens.

Thurs 22nd Nottingham/City of Caves Shopping/Place of interest

10.15am 3.30pm £15 As well as a large shopping area and attractive City Centre, there is the City of Caves - part of a hidden maze made up of over 500 original sandstone caves underneath the streets of Nottingham dating back to the dark ages. Investigate the social history of the caves and learn more about the events that once happened inside these fascinating underground dwellings. There is also Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem Inn for a bite to eat, the oldest Inn in England. Entry for Caves: £8 Adults & £7 Concessions

Tues 27th Millets Farm Centre Oxfordshire

Garden Centre 10am 3pm £13 Millets Farm was originally a 300 acre dairy farm that now includes 6 acres of PYO soft fruit. Includes a Frosts Garden Centre. As the site continued to get busier the current Farm Shop and restaurant building was opened in 1990.

Wed 28th Stratford-on-Avon Warwickshire

Historic Town 10.30am 3.15pm £11 A very popular tourist attraction on the banks of the River Avon. Visitors can enjoy the park area either side of the river, take a river cruise, wander around the shops or visit one or more of the historic attractions such as Shakespeare’s House. There is also the Butterfly Farm, at an additional cost.

Thurs 29th Skegness or Ingoldmells Lincs.

£18 Skegness is the largest resort town on the Lincolnshire Coast and has been a premier holiday destination for over a hundred years. There is so much to do, it’s difficult to know where to start. Natureland seal sanctuary and animal centre, Church Farm museum, Skegness Pier, crazy golf, ten-pin bowling, laser quest, fun fairs, and shopping. Situated just 4 miles from Skegness, Ingoldmells a popular holiday village found on the East Coast of Lincolnshire. Full of entertainment and things to do, Ingoldmells is fun for all the family. When the sun is shining, the beach is the perfect place to relax and take a break. Please let the driver know if you want to go to Ingoldmells otherwise they will stop in Skegness.

Fri 30th Oxford Historic Town 10am 3.30pm £14 A famous city that has a number of historic buildings, colleges and museums, such as the Ashmolean and the Pitt Rivers Museums. There are a large number of shops both indoor and outdoor plus an indoor market.

Points to note:

Booking will be on a first-come first served basis. For trips that are fully booked we will run a reserve list and contact people on that list if seats become available

through cancellations.

There are NO age restrictions applicable to DACT Days Out, but unfortunately all seats are charged at the same rate. This also applies to carers of wheelchair

passengers etc.

Price quoted is for return travel only. Admission charges are not included, unless otherwise stated. Food, drink, etc. is excluded.

Payment in cash should be made to the driver on the day of the trip unless stated otherwise.

Pick-ups The bus will leave from the Old Gasworks Car Park/Daventry Bus Station at the time stated in trip details. We will wait a maximum of 5 minutes only, in

fairness to other passengers.

Drop offs - Before departing the venue for your return to Daventry, please discuss with your driver where you require to be dropped off i.e. Bus Station,

Old Gasworks Car Park, or near to where you live if in Daventry. Please don’t assume the driver will know.

DACT will do their best to make sure every trip operates as advertised. However in circumstances beyond our control or minimum numbers not being met, we may

have to change or cancel – we cannot run these trips at a loss to DACT.

Trip Information is obtained from a variety of sources. We try to give a fair summary of a destination but we cannot guarantee that all the content we may use is totally

accurate.

Trolleys. We can carry shopping trolleys but they must be booked in advance as there is only limited storage space on our buses.

CANCELLATIONS. Please be aware that if you cancel your booking late, you may prevent others from travelling on the trip who would otherwise have

been able to go, and also if buses then get insufficient numbers, they run the risk of being cancelled. Please only book if you definitely intend to travel.

All bookings are taken on trust without a deposit and we do not want to change this procedure to avoid heavy administration. You must give at least one

weeks notice to cancel your trip, i.e. on the same day of the week one week earlier than trip date otherwise it will incur the full trip cost; (no exceptions); it

is unfair to other passengers to have their trip cancelled at short notice due to late cancellations. Please pay to the DACT Office as soon as possible.
