Make sure it is relevant to your ministry

• Individual ministry websites are normally linked to the Parish website. It is good to collaborate with your Parish Webmaster. Make sure that you have approval from Parish administration before purchasing a domain.

• A platform is a delivery system for your website

• Some options include: WordPress, WIX, Blogger

• All 3 platforms provide templates which give you a starting point to build your site

• All information is stored on a external web server enabling you to manage your website from anywhere you have internet access

• Pictures- should be compressed and load within 4 seconds

• Text- should be easy to understand

• Theme or template- chosen in each tool dashboard

• You use these tools in the dashboard for each tool

• Define the website to match the ministry purpose

• The scope of this site is very specific in nature

• For example: a site for catechists to get lesson plans or RCIA participants to find more information on topics covered

• Not meant to compete with the parish website but a resource for the ministry

• Themes/designs are a bit elementary

• Looks like a blog as opposed to a website, but that’s what it is primarily meant for

• Simple to use drag and drop features

• No need to know HTML

• Free if you only want basic features and “wix” in the domain name

• Different price packages based on features desired

• Fairly straightforward to use

• You can tweek it to look more like a website than a blog if you want, but some features are not customizable

• Your site is not available for public viewing until you publish it or hit a “go Live” button
