Thursday, May 31, 2018 Dear Friends in Christ, I have a friend at seminary who found out one day that her teenage daughter had cancer and within two days of that lost her teenage son in a horrific car accident. Suffering does not begin to describe the pain that my friend was experiencing. But, as I have continued to connect and talk with her I have been amazed at the depth of her faith. She has joy, she has hope, and she has love to share even in the midst of suffering and grief. Many people may think how can this be? It’s because of where she finds that hope and comfort. In the arms of a loving God. Every day she puts a scripture on her Facebook page that reminds her of God’s love and care even in suffering. Psalm 119:49-50 says, “Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.” God’s word gives us hope of something better. Whatever you are facing or going through remember that hope and comfort comes in the words and arms of a loving God! Be at peace for the Lord is with you.
