NLPOA Central Valley Chapter hosted a informational conference at the Southern California Edison Facilities in Tulare, California. The presenters addressed the issues of Sex Trafficking and the Abuse of Latina Women. These two crimes are wide spread and affect the lives of women as well as families. Several of the presenters where victims of Sex Trafficking others were abused as children.

Ms. Virginia Isais is the founder of Sobrevivientes De Trafico Humano, Santa Ana, California. The second presenter was Ms. Yolanda Calderon and a member of the NLPOA Inland Empire Chapter and Founder of CONPAZ a womens organization addressing abused women’s issues. Also speaking at the conference was California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Grabiela Santillan.

Back to School Supplies for Brletic School

On Wednesday, August 21, 2019, Mathew Brletic Elementary School in Parlier, CA was the recipient of this school year “Back to School Supplies” from NLPOA Fresno County. The estimated value of all of the items was about $1500. The items included line paper, spiral note books, pencils, pens, glue, scissors, hand sanitizers, rulers, backpacks, over 30 sports balls with a rolling ball cage.

In attendance was Parlier Unified School District Assistant Superintendent Ruben C. Diaz. Principal Aguilera was grateful for the supplies on behalf of the students and staff thanked NLPOA Fresno. A more detailed article with photos will be placed in the Pique Newspaper during the week of August 26th.

Fresno NLPOA Chapter hosted the 10th Annual Scholarship Recipients luncheon. The 17 Scholarship Recipients and their parents and family were in attendance, as well as 17 Fresno NLPOA members. It was a great event with the delicious food served and an informative presentation given by Police Chief Silver Rodriguez, Sanger Police Department. President Ruben Diaz, Treasurer Joe Ortiz, Maria Ortiz, Graciela James, Lieutenant Jose Gutierrez, and Chief Silver Rodriguez presented the Scholarship checks of $1,000 to each 17 Scholarship Recipients, along with a Fresno NLPOA Certificate and a goodie bag with an Fresno NLPOA Cap. The students and their family members were appreciative of the Scholarship and the luncheon. Hispanic Leadership Conference The University of Phoenix, Central Valley Campus, held a Hispanic Leadership Conference at the Fresno Campus. Rita Stanziale was the moderator for the evening. She along with Joycelene Gonzales organized the event. The panel addressed the challenges faced by Hispanic during their careers and what advise we had for the audience, pertaining to issues that Hispanics will face in leadership roles. They discussed the importance of higher education for Latinos and to network in the community. Giving back to the community and helping out as a mentor was a top subject during the discussions.

Clovis Rockets Softball Team The Under 10 years of age Girls Clovis Rockets Softball Traveling Team is sponsored by the NLPOA Fresno County Chapter. A banner with our logo and name was made possible with the financial contributions made by

NLPOA Fresno. The Team, Coaches and parents, are appreciative of the donation and banner. The team is comprised of 12 young ladies under the age of 10 years old. Their Coach is John Massicci and Assistant Coach Larry Schafer. The team has had a successful year so far, winning the majority of their games. Every Saturday and some Sundays you will see the Clovis Rockets on the softball fields throughout the Central Valley
