Thank you all so much for your support and assistance during 2016. Exciting Staffing News! But not for us! It is quite ironic that in the final Valley Views for the 2015 school year I announced that Mr. Justin Thompson had been appointed as our new Assistant Principal… what a different 12 months makes. I now proudly announce that Justin Thompson will no longer be our Assistant Principal as he has just been appointed Principal of Coral Park Primary School commencing in 2017. Justin has really rolled up his sleeves and made a tremendous contribution to Kilberry Valley over the year and we will miss him greatly. Our loss is Coral Park’s community’s gains, as I know Justin will give all he has to ensure it, not only remains a great school, but becomes even better. The Hampton Park schools network is very strong so we will still be working closely together to improve the education opportunities for all students in Hampton Park. I trust you will take the opportunity to see Justin and wish him well. We will advertise for another Assistant Principal early in the new year. All the best Justin … we know you will do well leading Coral Park Primary School. Congratulations Year 6! Next Monday evening we will say farewell to our Year 6 students of 2016. This is always a special time as it marks the end of the section of their educational journey. I am always so proud when I see the group all dressed up ready to acknowledge the successes they have achieved over the 7 years at Kilberry Valley. I sincerely wish them all the best for their future education. Building Changes You may notice some work over the break … so don’t be alarmed if you see our Performing Arts rooms leaving! These are being taken away and demolished. Due to our reduced numbers over the years, we are not entitled to the number of buildings we currently have. You may also see some action with the Community Room at the end of the staff car park. This may not happen until next year, but in the near future this will see a needed facelift and modernisation of this building. We were successful in obtaining funds through the Inclusive Schools Fund to engage in the development of the building to better meet the needs of our students. * FRIDAY 16th December Senior Assembly 2.45pm Grade 6 Excursion Funfields Class Parties * MONDAY 19th December Grade 6 Graduation at Rivergum Performing Arts * TUESDAY 20th December School Assembly 11.30am School Finishes 1.00pm * TUESDAY 31st January 2017 School starts 9.00am

Dear Parents, Final Day for the Year - Tuesday 20

th December

Early Dismissal at 1.00pm

As we finish school for the year next Tuesday, this will be the final Valley Views for the year. Thank you all so much for your support and assistance during 2016. Exciting Staffing News! But not for us! It is quite ironic that in the final Valley Views for the 2015 school year I announced that Mr. Justin Thompson had been appointed as our new Assistant Principal… what a different 12 months makes.

Please ensure you make suitable arrangements to collect your child at this time. There will be a final assembly on Tuesday at 11.30am where we will celebrate many of the achievements attained over the year. You are most welcome to attend this to conclude the year. School Commences in 2017 on Tuesday 31st JANUARY Staff will commence work on Monday 30th January and be undertaking some planning and preparations for the start of the 2017 school year. Christmas Concert It was unfortunate that the weather was unkind to us last week and we needed to cancel the Christmas Concert. You should now be aware that we will still conduct the event, but during school time on Thursday 15 th December at 2.00pm at the same venue – the basket ball court facing the B Block steps. This will be a slightly condensed version of what was to be last week, but all the students will perform their acts and it wi ll also be filmed. This will be placed on our social media sights for your viewing. All the Best to our Girls Basketball Team The team plays in the state Grand final on Saturday night and we wish them all the best. What a wonderful achievement – you should feel very proud! STATE FINAL DETAILS: When: Saturday 17th December VS Saint Monica of Tours Where: State Basketball Centre—291 George Street, Wantirna South 3152. Time: 5:30-5:50pm (Arrive from 5pm) 2 x 8minutes halves Cost: Free to watch the girls (If you would like to stay for the WNBL you can purchase 1/2 PRICED tickets on arrival)

Helpers Morning Tea It was great to see those who were able to come along on Wednesday for our helpers’ morning tea. We really appreciate all you do to assist the school programs and wish you a lovely Christmas break. Hopefully we will see you back with your sleeves rolled up ready to help again in 2017! School Review We have recently completed our School Review. This is a Department requirement every four years. During this process we analysed our performance over the last four years and now look to the future to see how we can continue to develop our stu-dents to the best of their ability. This is always a very enlightening experience and I thank those involved in the review process. I especially thank the parents who were asked to come along and talk to the external people on the review panel. Your insights were very valuable. As a result of this we have set three major goals for the next four years at Kilberry Valley. Student Achievement To optimise and accelerate the learning growth of every student in English, Mathematics and Science. Student Engagement To develop students who are curious, inquiring, creative, critical thinkers who are engaged in and connected to their learning. Student Wellbeing To develop resilient students, staff and school community members who display growth mindsets and behaviours and attitudes that reflect the school values. We have determined some strategies to implement and targets that we shall aim for to ensure we meet the goals and more information will be forthcoming in the new year regarding these.

Thank You and Happy Christmas I thank the school community for another wonderful year at Kilberry. I am certainly blessed to be able to spend the day with your children and our wonderful staff. A huge thanks to all members of staff for their undying desire to go that bit extra to ensure your children get the best opportunities to develop. I am confident 2017 will bring even more success and exciting times together. I trust you have a wonderful Christmas with your families and the holiday season is great time for you. This is a time to rest, recharge and come back in 2017 fired up and ready to achieve amazing outcomes!!!

Have a great week and keep smiling!

A company called uLearn Music has approached us offering after school music sessions to be held at school commencing term 1 next year.

School Council have discussed this possibility and feel it could be a great opportunity for students to get some tuition from a company that is already

working in a few of our local schools. The above flier contains the contact for the company and I know they would love

to hear from anyone that feels this would interest them. Simply log on to the web address and click on the enrol button to commence a conversation to answer any questions you may have regarding this program.

Please do not call the office for information, as we are outsourcing this program to uLearn Music and will not be taking bookings through the school office.

CHANGE OF CLOTHING FOR STUDENTS

We would like to remind parents to

provide a change of clothing in children’s school

bags—preferably some clean underwear,

track suit pants, windcheater, shorts or a dress.

This is handy for

ALL children in ALL grade levels .

It makes them feel less stressed if they

require a change of clothing owing to an

accident or a blood nose or they fall in the mud.

We ask for your co-operation with this

matter as our Sick Bay is unable to cope

with the large volume of people

requiring changes of clothing.

THANK YOU

PARENT REMINDERSPARENT REMINDERS
