B eta Upsilon sisters, the campaign is so close to reaching its goal! We are more
than 74 percent of the way to the end mark of the Anchored in Tradition, Building Our Future campaign, and we are certain the power of our 1,322 active sisters can get us over the hump. Your Support Is Still Necessary! For those of you who have not given, we appreciate any amount you feel you can give toward this massive project. Our participation rate is hovering at 14%, but we hope to make that 25% (the national average) by the end of the campaign. With just $258,000—or 26 percent—left to raise, we continue to have faith that if each of our Beta Upsilon alumnae contribute to the cause—anything they can afford—we will achieve this milestone.
Where the Project StandsWith the funds raised to date, we will be completing some smaller maintenance projects in our home during the summer of 2019. We will be deep cleaning the house and completing annul maintenance projects, such as painting, refreshing the landscaping, and preventative inspections on the fire sprinkler and detections systems. This is to get the house ready as we gear up for our 2020 construction deadlines. We are still working on securing final bids and a line of credit for costs exceeding what has been raised from this capital campaign, and we will be finalizing remodel plans and begin ordering project supplies to ensure all custom pieces are available for construction in summer 2020.
What That MeansAll dollars raised will go toward renovating the chapter house and minimizing the loan dollars
needed to complete the project. However, all loans will have to be incorporated into the collegiate sisters’ cost of living in the chapter house. Beta Upsilon has one of the lowest live-in costs due to efficient budget management from the collegiate and house corporation boards, and we hope to keep it that way through reducing the amount of debt ultimately needed. All of these factors, including our outstanding women, promote the ΔΓ house as one of the most competitive at Oregon State. Will you help us keep it that way?
With the exterior renovations planned for summer 2020, we are maintaining focus on all the things that make us great. Thank you, sisters, for all you do to make Beta Upsilon a beautiful, vibrant, and meaningful place to build a lifetime of sisterhood now and for many years to come.

When Kathleen Kee ’81 first came to OSU as a freshman in 1979, she knew
she wanted to get involved in the university’s strong Greek community. “I didn’t have any sisters of my own, and as a young person, you want to belong,” Kathleen said. She knew a number of ΔΓs from her high school that she respected, which had a big impact on her decision to pledge Delta Gamma, but her own personal experiences with the chapter sealed the deal. “Every ΔΓ I met was real, and I felt comfortable at the house,” Kathleen stated. She went on to serve as treasurer, a position that would prepare her for her career in finance; although, she said her biggest takeaways from the chapter is to “Do Good” and to always have hope. A Lifetime of Fond MemoriesKathleen recently visited the chapter house for initiation, specifically to watch her daughter, Clarice Wong ’18, follow in her ΔΓ footsteps. “So many memories poured into my mind when I walked through those doors,” Kathleen said. “Trips to 7-Eleven before studying, late-night shenanigans around Corvallis, and basketball games were just a few fond memories I remember sharing with my sisters.” Her love of Delta Gamma has continued as an alumna, and Kathleen has met a number of impressive ΔΓs throughout the years. “There
is an instant bond that is created when you meet a fellow Delta Gamma,” Kathleen said.
Giving Back Kathleen’s cherished memories with Beta
Upsilon, and her affection for ΔΓ as a whole, are what inspired her to give
back to the Anchored in Tradition, Building Our Future campaign. “I had so many wonderful memories and strong friendships while attending OSU that I wanted others
to share those same opportunities and experiences,” Kathleen said.
Perhaps equally important is knowing the extent to which the chapter house needs
refurbishing. “The house needs a facelift,” Kathleen said. “In order for ΔΓ to remain a strong chapter at OSU, we have to take care of the house so other young women will want to call Beta Upsilon their home away from home.” Life After OSUWith more than 35 years of experience in finance, Kathleen serves as partner and CEO at Confluence Wealth Management where she enjoys the challenge of working with an array of clients from all walks of life. She lives in Vancouver, Washington, where she enjoys gardening, cooking, fishing, and spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. If you would like to reconnect with Kathleen, you can reach her at [email protected].

Beta Upsilon Chapter3
F all term ended on a high note for Beta Upsilon as new chapter officers were
elected. Everyone was eager to return to Corvallis for winter term to welcome new members through informal recruitment, participate in philanthropies, and continue to “Do Good.”
Committed to Academic ExcellenceOur members are hard at work in their academic pursuits, earning a fall term chapter GPA of 3.24. Study tables are hosted at the chapter house multiple times a week, encouraging sisters to reach their academic goals. Philanthropically FocusedBeta Upsilon has had lots of fun participating in other organizations’ philanthropies, such as Sigma Pi’s fifth annual Pi for Life event, which benefitted the Portland Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Amazing Day Foundation. We also participated in Sigma Phi Epsilon’s dodgeball tournament, which supported Community Outreach Inc., as well as the Corvallis Polar Plunge, which benefitted the Special Olympics. Recruiting the FinestThis winter, we participated in informal recruitment and were excited to welcome three new members into Beta Upsilon. After being matched with their Bigs and new ΔΓ families, they were initiated in February. They are enjoying their time in ΔΓ learning about our purpose and values.
Enhancing the Sisterhood ExperienceSome of our chapter management team were granted the opportunity to attend ΔΓ’s February Institute in Columbus, Ohio, where they networked with other chapter officers from around the country, learned valuable leadership skills, and toured the Executive Offices. We also hosted a Galentine’s Day brunch with a waffle bar to celebrate our friendships with one another.
A Grand CelebrationFounders Day was a wonderful celebration held at our chapter house. A special thank-you to all the alumnae and guests who attended. We appreciate your loyalty to Delta Gamma and hope to see you all again next year.
Thankful for YouBeta Upsilon is off to a great start this year and are thrilled to maintain our commitment to service, academics, and sisterhood. We are continuously inspired by our alumnae’s contributions to our chapter, and our gratitude is never-ending. We invite you to visit us more often at 715 NW 23rd Street!
