Fuel Surcharge

A variable surcharge is applied to the weight charge o each

shipment. Tis is derived rom publically available uel oil

indices that are accessible on the DHL Express website at

www.dhl.com. Te charge is calibrated every month to the

oil price that was current two months prior to the billing

month. Te Fuel Surcharge applies to domestic and

international shipments.

Remote Areas

A xed surcharge is applied when a shipment is sent to or

imported rom a remote location such as highlands and

islands. For shipment weights over the billed weight o 70 kg,

a higher per kilo charge is payable. Te Remote Area

surcharge applies to domestic and international shipments.

Over Weight Piece

A xed surcharge is applied to any piece that exceeds the

scale weight o 70kg. Te Over Weight Piece surcharge

applies to domestic and international shipments.

Over Sized Piece

A xed surcharge is applied to any non-palletized piece with

a single dimension in excess o 120cm, or any pallet with a

base dimension in excess o 120cm. Te Over Sized Piece

surcharge applies to domestic and international shipments.

Dangerous Goods*

A variable surcharge is applied to any shipment that contains

substances or commodities that are classied as h azardous.

Te Dangerous Goods surcharge applies to domestic and

CUSTOMS SERVICES

Bio/Phyto/Veterinary Controls.The arrangement by DHL, o any bio, health,phyto-sanitary, veterinary, quarantine,CITES or similar controls required by anyregulatory agency, and the preparationo any related paperwork, to acilitatethe clearance o a shipment. This includes,but is not limited to, licenses, permits, andinspections required by a Fish & Wildlieor other government agency, or certainimported commodities determined by thecountry concerned. The service charge isdetermined locally.

Bonded Storage.Storage charges apply when the shipmentcannot be released by Customs due toinaccurate or missing paperwork, or when

the Shipper requests a Handover to Broker.Storage charges will take eect threecalendar days ater the reight arrival dateor broker notifcation, whichever is later.The charge per day will be assessed locally.

Bonded Transit Documents.The in-bond entry allows non-documentoreign origin goods to travel under bondthrough a country or customs union to fnaldestination or clearance by the importersbroker or into a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).The service charge is determined locally.

Certifcate o Origin.Some destinations require certifcation orcertain commodities. The purpose o theCertifcate o Origin is to authenticate thecountry o origin o the merchandise /goods

being shipped. Upon request, or when thedocumentation is missing at origin, DHLwill attach the certifcate on behal o thecustomer or a service charge determinedlocally.

Clearance Authorization.When the Importer o the shipment hasspecifcally requested contact beore thecustoms clearance process begins, DHLcontacts the Importer or that authorization.This oten helps the Importer to e nsure thatall clearance paperwork is frst prepared. Aservice charge is determined locally and paidby the Importer.

Formal Clearance.Non-restricted merchandise based on valueand commodity is usually cleared on aconsolidated maniest or more cost andtime efcient processing. DHL will assess aservice charge when the importer howeverrequests a single inormal entry when theshipment is actually qualifed to be cleared

inormally on the consolidated maniest.

Handover to Broker.At the customer's request, the clearancepaperwork is transerred to an independentbroker to handle customs clearance. DHLwill assess a service charge per waybill tocomplete the handover. DHL is subsequentlynot responsible or the timeliness o thesubmission to Customs or or the release othe shipment.

Import / Export Duties.Duties are applied by Customs at the timeo initial entry and these vary dependingon contents, origin o shipment and importcountry. Additional duties may be appliedby Customs ater the initial customs entrywhen estimated duties were paid or when

an entry is audited causing a change in theduty owed. These charges will appear onthe duty invoice presented by DHL.

Import / Export Taxes.Taxes are applied by Customs on the valueo the goods being imported.

Import Paperwork.DHL will provide copies o importdocumentation or records previouslysupplied to the importer or ultimate re ceiverat an additional charge per entry. Copieso import documentation will be suppliedby the importing Gateway when requestedby the receiver. Copies o fles or expressmaniested clearances are not available. Theservice charge is determined locally.

Multiline Entry.A service charge per line item will beassessed or multi-line item entries withmore than fve lines, or example whenone shipment has multiple commodities,origins or invoices. All commodities requireidentifcation and must be classifed under

unique harmonized code tari numbers.

Obtaining Permits & Licenses.When requested by the customer orrequired by Customs, DHL applies a servicecharge or the preparation and submissiono any entry necessary to clear Customs, oror the preparation o the necessary importpaperwork to obtain a missing State orCustoms permit or license to authorize t heimport o certain goods. The service chargeis determined locally.

Payment Deerment.A service charge is applied to any import oa non-document shipment or which DHLadvances to Customs any duties, charges,or taxes and then r e-bills the receiver. Theservice charge will be equal to 2% o the

amount advanced subject to a standardminimum. This processing charge willappear as a separate line item on the dutyinvoice presented by DHL.

DHL Express reserves the right to apply additional charges or services and conditions not specifed in this guide.

HOW TO WEIGH AND PAY

Volumetric weight

You may be sending a large, lightweight shipment where its

volumetric weight exceeds its actual weight. I so, the cost o the

shipment is calculated on the space your consignment takes up on

the aircrat. This is a standard IATA method.

To calculate the volumetric weight o your shipment simply multiply

the length (cm) x height (cm) x width (cm) o the shipment package

and divide the result by 5000 or by 6,000 or DHL JUMBO BOX and

DHL EXPRESS PALLET

Payment or DHL Express services

You can pay or DHL Express services either in cash, credit card or

via bank transer. You can open an account with DHL Express to

pay via bank transer. All account customers receive invoices on a

pre-determined basis. For more details please get in touch with a
