MACSA will be providing a Junior Giants Program. Junior Giants , the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, is a free, non-competitive and innovative baseball program for boys and girls ages 5-18 years old.

In 1994, the Fund sought a program that would give at-risk kids a meaningful partnership with community-based organizations and provide an alternative to drugs, gangs and crime. The Junior Giants Program was therefore established and now serves 20,000 children in 85 leagues across California and into Nevada and Oregon. The Community Fund provides all of the uniforms, equipment, and training necessary to run a league as well as tickets to select Giants games so the youth can experience a Major League Baseball game.

But more important than the fundamentals of baseball, Junior Giants focuses on the four bases of character development -- Confidence, Integrity, Leadership and Teamwork -- and offers programs in Education, Health and Violence Prevention. This framework is integrated into the Junior Giants handbook distributed to all of the kids and parents.

Family Camp provides a retreat where guests of all ages can fish, hike, swim,

participate in organized programs, or just sit back, relax, and take it easy. It's a great

experience for the entire family! So come up and rent a tent. San José’s Family Camp is

located in the heart of the Sierras near Yosemite National Park, just east of Groveland,

California. Family Camp is situated on 47 acres of leased land from the U.S. Forest

Service. The Stanislaus National Forest and the middle fork of the Tuolumne River serve

as the scenic backdrop to this mountain playground.

During the Summer Family Session, the camp provides three meals a day to campers,

along with supervised recreational activities. Groups are welcome to rent out the camp

during the pre- and post-sessions. For questions, please contact staff at (408) 794-6208.

Summer Jazz Camp is a two-week learning lab for talented and committed middle

and high school music students with backgrounds that range from intermediate to the pre-

professional level. Students learn from professional musicians/educators and collaborate

with students just like themselves who are from the Greater Bay Area and beyond.

Students engage in two weeks of daylong immersion into all aspects of Jazz. Included in

the program of study is one-on-one training on individual instruments, music theory, ear

training, rhythm classes, and various levels and styles of improvisation. Each student will

be placed into a small ensemble and a big band, and select advanced level students will

have an opportunity to participate in the Latin Jazz Big Band or the Summer Jazz Camp

‘A’ band which will focus on playing the repertoire of historically important Jazz

composers such as Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, John Clayton, Thad Jones, and more.
