PRINCIPAL’S REPORT I welcome everyone back to Term 4 and hope that children, their families and our teachers, were able to enjoy some much-needed downtime to relax and rejuvenate, ready for our final term of 2017! Planning for 2018 During Term Four, teachers plan the composition of classes for the following year, trying to ensure the best placement for all students and hopefully, this will result in well-balanced, supportive and successful grades. Parents may wish to contribute information concerning academic, social or behavioural needs of their child, which they believe should be considered. This may be done through discussion with the current classroom teacher or sent to me via email to the school email with ‘Class Placement 2018 – child’s name and current grade’ in the subject line and this information will then be taken into account, along with teacher knowledge and each student’s personal choices, as teachers make their decisions, considering as far as possible, the best interests of all children. Any communication in this matter should be received by Friday 3 rd November to ensure your input is taken into account during this process. World Teachers’ Day Last Friday, the teachers were treated to a beautiful surprise morning tea to celebrate World Teachers’ Day which, this year fell during the school holidays. A special thank you to Talia Solomon and her team of helpers who organised the morning tea and to all the parents who helped to provide the scrumptious goodies and the lovely messages of gratitude for our teachers. The teachers were genuinely touched by and thankful for this lovely gesture. Major Fundraiser ‘Bogan Bingo’ Our Major Fundraiser ‘Bogan Bingo’ happens this Saturday evening in the hall. There has been a massive amount of effort by our Parents’ Association team of Emma Grant, Dana Lewis, Yana Kravietz, Samantha Litinsky, Natalie Faber, Simone Cohen and Natalie Blustein who have been so generous in the amount of time and energy given to this project. The event is sold out and promises to be a fun night that will add greatly to the fundraising efforts of our school. It is extremely heartening to see the wonderful array of goodies donated by families for the hampers that are boxed up so beautifully in the office, ready for auction at this big event. The parents have sourced many great prizes and auction items. I am grateful to all those who have contributed their time and effort so far and everyone who is supporting this fundraiser with their attendance. I hope to see your best ‘bogan selves’ on Saturday night! Melbourne Marathon Congratulations to John Wink and Andy McKibbin who participated in the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday. It was lovely to see CSPS students supporting them on the day. What great role modelling for our children! Farewell Mrs Noden As Grade 2C families know, there is much excitement in the camp with the impending arrival another Noden family member. Hailey, who is one of our Year 2 teachers will finish her year on Wednesday next week. I thank Hailey for the way she has connected with our school this year and provided such terrific teaching and learning opportunities for our children and wish her the very best with her growing family. We look forward to the happy baby news! We are very fortunate that our own Mrs Stephanie Sim, who now knows these children well, will teach the grade for the remainder of the year. Italian Day Last week, the students celebrated Italian Day when they experienced lots of different Italian activities and an Italian comedy incursion ‘La Comica’ Variety troupe who presented their show LE VACANZE, thanks to the organizing efforts and creativity of Signora Bilionis. Tom, the gelato man, also provided rainbow flavoured gelati Italian ice-cream for those who wished to enjoy that. I must comment on the wonderful spirit of participation demonstrated by our children and supported so strongly by their parents. SPECIAL ASSEMBLY NEXT FRIDAY 27TH OCTOBER AT 11.30AM

We have a visitor from Canberra coming to our school assembly on Friday 27th October to present a National award to one of our CSPS students. This has necessitated a change of time for assembly on that date. (There will therefore be no assembly in the afternoon.)

Bamboo Forest – Combined Community Effort! Today, the Green Machine Year 5 students and their buddies worked with the landscapers to plant the bamboo in the latest area at CSPS to be ‘greened up’. This is between the Prep portable and the library. The transformation of our outdoor

area over the last few years is a great result of our community all working together, raising funds and rolling up their sleeves to make things happen for and with our children. We must all be congratulated on such a great effort! OfficeMax Student Booklists for 2018 Parents please continue to check the newsletter as OfficeMax will shortly supply Back to School online order details for 2018 student orders. Early orders benefit from great postal savings!

Remember: No hat no play, so bring your hat every day! ‘Remember water bottles,

SUNSMART POLICY To assist with the implementation of the SunSmart policy (which can be found on our Website under School Policies), we encourage you to access the daily local sun protection times via the SunSmart widget on the school’s website (located

near the school address footer on the website), the free SunSmart app or at sunsmart.com.au

JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCIL – COMMUNITY WALK Last term on the 1st of September, the Junior School Council went for a community walk to see what was around our community. We filled 2 bags of rubbish from around the streets that was mainly soft

plastic and Hendricks food packages. Please remember to put your rubbish in the bins instead of just throwing it on the ground so we can keep our community clean. Thank you By Abby.H and Eva
