My lovely Kiwis!

Summer vacation is quickly coming to an end, but it is not time to give up on service. Over the past month, I have seen many creative service events that you have been coming up with, and that’s awesome! For those who have been away at summer camps or a vaca-tion to foreign lands, I hope you have been enjoying yourself.

For those who were not present at the June DCM, we have officially established our division goals for the year of 2014-2015! These goals are: To serve at least 100 hours of service per club per month To raise at least $150 to Project Eliminate To donate any extra funds raised to Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) To attend at least two Kiwanis meetings/communicate with sponsoring Kiwanians to report on monthly announcements and upcoming service events (don’t forget to ask them to send you their newsletters too!) To some clubs, these goals may seem easy. To others, it may be a challenge. Togeth-er, we can definitely soar past our own expectations and strive for division excellence!

Again, as the new school year starts again, keep in mind that it’s a new opportunity to invite others to join this wonderful organization. There are tons of exciting events com-ing up! Make sure you look forward to Region Training Conference, Key 2 College, Fall Rally North, and even District Convention 2015.

Over the next final weeks of summer, find more service events and raise funds. In addi-tion, you should be planning for the upcoming school year so that you and your club are ready to welcome new faces and potential leaders with open arms!

Deed of kindness: This month, donate or provide a child in need with school supplies for the upcoming school year.

See you all at the August DCM!SOARing for Service,

Kevin MoyungDivision 2 Lieutenant Governor 2014-2015

August’s Service InitiativeThe Spotlight on Service Program was created to educate Cali-Nev-Ha Key Clubbers about the Key Club International as well as Cali-Nev-Ha Service Initiatives and encourage active participation with/for the or-ganizations and initiatives. A service Initiative is assigned each month in which clubs should focus a project or two on supporting the initiative.

The August Focus is...

Children’s EducationEducation creates opportunities upon youth to explore their talents and imagi-nations. A child’s education directly affects our future. The future generation might just be able to cure cancer or create time travel machines. But without

basica education support, their opportunity to shine is not possible. This month our focus is to support children’s education in every way possible.

Clubs are encouraged to submit service project ideas/reflec-tions by completing this Spotlight on Service Submission Form. The form is due by the 5th of each month for the previous month. If you are planning on submitting pictures, please send them to [email protected]. Please remember that to send action pictures of members doing service and not posing. Project submissions should be PROJECTS and not service op-portunities. A reflection of helping out at a 5K run is consid-ered a service opportunity. A reflection of actually creating a community 5K run is considered a service project. Upon submission for a certain focus, the submitted service project is not required to be of that month’s focus as long as it is one of the enlisted. Every month the district will showcase projects from the previous month in the district newsletter. You may receive recognition and inspire others with your creative project ideas.
