China FAQDo I need to get my documents notarized before sending them to you?The answer to this will depend on the city/province that you'll be teaching in. We cannotarize documents for cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, etc. However, other places like cities in Jiangsu Province require that the issuing entitiesnotarize the documents. (i.e., your university will need to notarize your diploma, etc.) The easiest way to figure this out is to submit an order through our website, and then we willbe able to speak with you about your specific situation.

What steps of the process will Teaching Nomad do for me?We will do all of the steps for you! In some cases  you'll need to get your documents notarized

before sending them to us, and we can help walk you through what you need to do.

A general outline of the steps of the process can be found below, and we are able to do eachstep for you unless we tell you otherwise.

My documents were issued in different states... what do I do?

This is a common issue that we see teachers run into, and the authentication process willdepend on the area of China you'll be teaching in. As long as you hold a U.S. passport, we will be able to help you with the process. The best thing to do is to fill out and submit the order form on our website so we can contactyou for further details and to provide you with a price quote and a more accurate timeline.

How long does authentication take?The authentication process timeline will change depending on what state(s) your documents

are from. The timeline can range anywhere from 10-25 business days.

If we can create copies of your documents and notarize those copies, the process will be on thequicker end, but if the city you're going to requires that you get the original documents

notarized and authenticated, the process will take longer.

I need a background check...where should I get one from?

Check with your school to see if they want an FBI background check or a state levelbackground check. If they will accept a state level background check, then we can run one foryou, or you can get one at a nearby police station and send it to us. The background check that we can run for you costs $66 to run, plus other authenticationfees. Ours is always a safe bet because we know that it meets China's background checkrequirements. No fingerprints are needed for our state-level check.

No, you do not need to get your documents notarized before sending them to us. We are able to notarize copies of your documents once they arrive at our office, so all you haveto do is submit your order and mail everything to us.

How long does legalization take?The legalization process for the UAE usually takes about 18 business days.

How long does the apostille process take?

The apostille process for South Korea takes about 2 days for non-federallyissued documents.

For FBI background checks, the process takes about 10 business days.

I need a background check...where should I get one from?We recommend getting an FBI background check if you're going to be teaching in South Korea. We cannot run an FBI background check for you, but we can apostille it once you have it in yourhands.

General FAQWhat happens after my documents are authenticated/legalized/apostilled?

Once your documents are all finished at our office, you'll want to check in with your school andsend them scans of everything so they know that you're done. They'll provide you with next steps in terms of getting a visa!

Can I authenticate my documents myself?We often only see people doing this process on their own if they live within 30 minutes

of the embassy that they'll need to use.

The process is quite complicated for different countries, and we find that many peoplewill try to do it on their own, pay a lot of money, and then end up needing to use a service

to do it for them anyways.

Using a service guarantees that things will get done properly and in a timely manner!

Why do I have to get my documents authenticated/legalized/apostilled?

To get a work visa in most countries, you need to get your documents validated by thecorrect government bodies. This ensures that your documents are real, that they belong toyou, and that you're actually qualified for the job that you were offered.

Are there any expedited processing options?

There are different expedited processing options for each country, but thetimeline varies by the time of year.

Expedited processing costs extra, so let us know if you're interested in this

option and we can discuss logistics.

Is financing available?Yes! We use PayPal for payment processing, and PayPal offers interest-free financing for up to 6months on purchases of $99 +. There are restrictions and a credit check, but be sure to check it out.

I just graduated from university... can I start authentication now?

You will need your diploma in-hand before we can begin the authentication process.You cannot authenticate transcripts in place of a diploma.

Once you receive your diploma, we can begin authenticating it.
