The Railway Children

Members of Leeds Children’s Theatre will be collecting for the charity Railway Children. Please give generously. Railway Children fight for vulnerable children who live alone at risk on the streets, where they suffer abuse and exploitation. Every day we fight to change their story. Railway Children race to reach children as soon as they arrive on the streets and intervene before an abuser can. Our pioneering work enables us to get to street children before the streets get to them.

Mike Kenny’s imaginative stage adaptation of E. Nesbit’s much-loved children’s classic. An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books. This production is dedicated to the memory of Valerie Goodison, 1937-2014. Valerie, the mother of Director Ian and grandmother of cast member Molly, was a long time supporter of Leeds Children’s Theatre who also helped out on occasion with costume making. There will be one 20 minute interval. Roberta (Bobby), Phyllis and Peter look back on the year they became the Railway Children after their father is mysteriously called away from home and the family are forced to move north to Yorkshire…
