MERRY CHRISTMAS

Let’s party!

WWH’s 50th AnniversaryChristchurch Court celebrated Wales & West Housing’s 50th Anniversary with a very well attended party on Friday 10th July.

Entertainment was provided by Paul, the tenor from Rhayader, who has a magnificent voice.

“The lovely two course meal was provided by Hotel Commodore, which everyone enjoyed. Twenty five residents attended and we all had a wonderful time” said Olivia Mphela, former scheme manager at Christchurch Court.

103rd Birthday CelebrationsVera Vaughan was born on the 2nd of September 1912. She moved into Christchurch Court 29 years ago on the 18th of August 1986 and recently celebrated her 103rd birthday with friends at the scheme. Congratulations Vera, from all at Wales & West Housing!

We managed to speak to eleven residents during our drop in session in July this year. Thank you all for taking the time to chat to us to tell us your views of Christchurch Court.

We asked you to rate Christchurch Church as a place to live for you, where 1 is poor and 10 is excellent. We averaged your ratings, resulting in a score of 8.4 out of 10

of you really liked living here and you felt safe

of you supported the idea of making the alcove into a comfy corner (2 were not concerned and 2 disliked the idea)

of you said there was less to do now than when you first moved in

of you said there are activities going on, but other residents don’t join in.

We are currently doing visits with each resident to find out about your individual service needs and support you require.

We have the Make a Difference to Your Community grant, should you want to get together to run social activities or events at Christchurch Court. Please feel free to share your ideas on the comments sheet at the end of this newsletter.

Communal lounge and service chargesWe understand that when we hold staff meetings in the communal this means that it is not available to residents. That is why we take great care to ensure that no residents’ activities are taking place in the lounge when we book meetings.

As a thank you for use of the facilities, each time a staff meeting isbooked, we give £15 per half day to the scheme, which is then used to reduceeveryone’s service charge.

We are checking that all meetings are being recorded and the correct amountsallocated. By the end of 2015 the scheme will have been credited with £300 for staff use.
