ECO Garden

Our mission is to promote and support opportunities that encourage children to engage with and experience the outdoors. Youth have the opportunity to engage in hands-on gardening activities. Edible gardening is a great way for students to achieve physical activity while learning about fruits and vegetables. Gardening labs meet state curriculum standards.

These rising sixth through ninth graders worked with business coaches to research concepts and the local business environment to create their own business plans.

Western Heights Dental has partnered with Green Magnet for the dental initiative. Green Magnet was the first school in Knox County to provide this service to students. Pictured are students receiving their initial

on-site screenings. “SAY AHH!”

 The Dental Initiative

Elgin Children’s Foundation identifies where dental care is insufficient and needed. Elgin wants children to learn the importance of health and wellness, and that begins with their teeth. The foundation facilitates dental care through local school systems, charitable organizations, and volunteers to ensure these young patients will continue to see a dentist for basic, and, if needed, critical dental care. Elgin looks for children who can’t afford a dental visit, are underserved, or at economic risk.

Fulton Student Athletes Inspire

Lonsdale Students

Assistant High School Football Coach Justin Long brought two Fulton football players to meet with the Boys 2 Men club at Lonsdale Elementary to talk about what it takes to participate in Fulton Athletics, and to go on to play sports in college.

Players KJ Roper and DJ Williams shared with students the honest truths about the responsibilities of being a student-athlete. Many students in Boys 2 Men attend Fulton football games and know who KJ and DJ are. Hearing advice from existing role models inspired Lonsdale students to really listen to the obligations and sacrifices necessary to be a student-athlete

Thank you Coach Long for your commitment to facilitating mentorship between high school and elementary students as a College and Career Access Coach at Project GRAD, and for sharing your expectations of what it means to grow from boys to men.

STEM Scouts learning modules are designed and vetted by STEM educators and professionals to be fun and age-appropriate. Hands-on activities help students learn the academic concepts behind the experiments. Elementary-age STEM Scouts have the opportunity to earn participation awards for their weekly activities.

walk to and/or from school, led by one or two parents or community volunteers. The

Walking School Bus is one of the Safe Routes to School programs promoted and organized by the Knox County Health Department and is not a Knox County School system program.
