MIND MAP
Want to add a pop art feel to the work, using line drawing an block colouring of the images. Have an advert from routeones half price sale, with a halftone effect. Want to apply this to the images.
Suggests this idea of going through a process, going to use a photosheet, and change the images to realte to the process of making a song, from band prep, to writing, to recording to live shows.
The song was written in 1966 by Smokey Robinson. It was a soul classsic of its time.
The bands name Temptations , instantly brings alot of ideas. Using what tempts me and playing on that. Thought about perhaps using imagery of women , and playing on there assets as temptations, but thought this was to out the box. To controversial.
Playing on the era. 1960s using very bold bright block colours, swirly text and neon. Taking inspiration from the colours of the era.
Using the original illustration of the term , was going to take it back an redraw the illustration, without the lyrics inside the bomb. See whether people would recognise or known the connection.
There album covers consists of mainly a group shot, big typography, taking over alot of the album. Big bold colours.
Using the lyrics ' Look out baby 'cause here I come '. Playing on that using the lead singer, as the enticement for the viewer.
The term Get Ready, symbolises the act of preparing. Going to experiemnet with this act, using the lead singer from the Temptations, will show him getting ready, to go out, perform, etc.
INFLUENCES
Keith Harring. A street graffiti artist. Who had heavy social influence through his work, Influenced me through his cartoons, use of colours.
Stephen Bliss was an illistrator involved in the Vice City GTA games by Rockstar. Highly recognized style of artwork that was involved in the game. Influence through the pop art style, as it fits the era of the song.
This is an advert from RouteOne clothing. It was fror there may bank holiday sale. Took inspiration from the halftone textures, and colour scheme, to impement to the temptations get ready.
ORIGINAL COVERS
This cover realtes more to the era of the sixties, the use of this video game style typography, this combination of this pattern encapsulating the band, it all fits, the colours are coordinated, it heightens the image, drawing your eye to it. The colours will influence the first idea of the covers. WIll take eyedrops of the exact colour and implemnt them in, bringing a new feel to the old cover. Taken bits from the orginal and alternating them.
ORIGINAL COVERS
The album was realesed on Gordy and Motown records. Very simple cover, follows the second idea for the alubm cover. Use of big bold typography. Not a huge fan of the varying typefaces, think it confuses the cover. Stylized wihtin the era, use of the keyhole imagery, looking through at the band as they get ready. The plaque in which it states the songs names, links to the door plaquem building up this sense of excitment as your about to listen to them. Want to expand on the colours, brighten them up, yet keep a black and white tone to the images.
GET READY
LYRICS
I never met a girl who makes me feel the way that
you do. (You're alright)Whenever I'm asked who makes my dreams real, I
say that you do. (You're outta sight)
So, fee-fi-fo-fumLook out baby, 'cause here I
come.
And I'm bringing you a love that's true.
So get ready, so get ready.I'm gonna try to make you
love me too.So get ready, so get ready
'cause here I come.
(Get ready 'cause here I come) I'm on my way.
(Get ready 'cause here I come)
If you wanna play hide and seek with love, let me
remind you (It's alright)But the lovin' you're gonna
miss and the time it takes to find you (It's outta sight)
So, fiddley-dee, fiddley-dumLook out baby, 'cause here I
come.
And I'm bringing you a love that's true.
So get ready, so get ready.I'm gonna try to make you
love me too.So get ready, so get ready
'cause here I come.
(Get ready 'cause here I come) I'm on my way.
(Get ready 'cause here I come)(Get ready)
If all my friends should want you too, I'll understand it. (Be
alright)I hope I get to you before they do, the way I planned it. (Be
outta sight)
So tiddley-dee, tiddley-dumLook out baby, 'cause here I
come.
And I'm bringing you a love that's true.
So get ready, so get ready.I'm gonna try to make you
love me too.So get ready, so get ready
'cause here I come.
Get ready 'cayse here i come
IDEA ONE
First idea involved the title of the song Get Ready. It was all about how anyone would get ready to go out. This temptation to doll ourselves up, look the best we could be and impress others. The era the song was written in was orientated around big block colouring, outrageous contrasts. Wanted to play on this love for colour. Using the influences that i had gathered and what the song brought back for me, decided to go down this GTA style of illustrating a character. Using pop art to influence. Taking elements from the
era the song was written and using them to draw influence.
INFLUENCES
Key influence was from the Grand Theft Auto Vice City game. Stephen Bliss was involved in the character illustrations. As the senior designer at the time with Rockstar games, he heavily influenced the highly stylized characters as we know it. Drawing from the use of bold colours, and heavy stroke lines. Using these halftone film grain effects, to add texture to the pictures., ageing them somewhat to fit into the choosen era. The game itslef would have influenced the designers direction, again due to the era and time. The music involved in the game would have also played apart on the deisgn, as to what the fasion would have been at the time. they all influence one another.. It was a huge pop culture sensation, which linked into the temptations as a band, there where at the top of there soul game, get ready proved to be a hit.Another influencial artist again linking into the era was Keith
Harring, he was well known for visual graffiti work. His work provided very poinent messages, working to help others and provide a stable platoform through which his art would connect. The street art style he brought, allowed this down to earth artist to connect with varying soical groups. The use of block colurs, very precise lines to his paintings, heightened his work from street graffiti to art. Having a cartoon like feel to it, helped bring out the fun.
In all my work there is some degree of content that is more obvious, communicating a specific or a general idea that people will get. But a lot of times the work is ambiguous enough that it can interpreted by whoever."
Keith Harring.

IMAGE ONE
DEVELOPMENT
Using an image found from the following source www.eurweb.com. The photo already has a slight halftone effect added. This is what i intended as to link inwith my influences. It gives the photo an aged look. Would use the front man as the main imagery for the album covers. After have altered the image using photoshop. The image already portrays that feeling of wanting to get ready and go out. There all suited and bootedm which i also would like to play on in the album covers.
Opened the original image into photoshop.
Using the magnetic lasso tool. Traced around the font
man in the image.
IMAGE ONE
DEVELOPMENT
Tracing around the image, so we can cut it out and add effects.
After cut the image out, we then applied it into a new document.
IMAGE ONE
DEVELOPMENT
Placed into a new document. We can then adjust and apply different effects to the image we
have selected
IMAGE ONE
DEVELOPMENT
Turning the image into a black and white, allows use to see the
effects and control the adjustment levels more. As we want to add
colour to the image, we saturated it first.
This is the film grain effect, think it doesnt quite fit in with the pop art or era we are working with.

IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
The image we are going to work with, is the halftone effect. It adds
a nice texture that can be seen throughout the image. The size of the dots was three the contrast eleven, and the effect was dots.

Using the pen tool i drew around each segment of the suit. First of
all the right side blazer, then so on until the suit was penned out.
After selected each part of the suit we then coloured it using the selection of colours that we had
got from one of the original album covers.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
Using the colour pallete we had created, then started to piece
tpgether some suit colours, which ones worked and which ones
didnt.
The first colour arrangement of the suit was taken from the
inspiration of GTA vice city.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
The yellow and purple suit, stands out. The colours dont contrast.
They bring out the era od the song
The yellow and green, pretty nasty colour combination.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
Lighter green and the purple. Purple and the pink alternated.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
The decided to change it a little what would it look like without
that key figure, would people still be able to recognise the song and
the meanings.
Yellow and green with no figure.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
Green and purple with no figure, it works you can still get the jist
of wanting to go out and get suited and booted.
Purple and pink.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
Take the image right back to basics yaking out all the colour,
and just leaving the suit pocket to reflect the colours.
Yellow pocket.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
Green pocket. Purple pocket.
IMAGE ONE DEVELOPMENT
After altering the image to black and white i didnt like the look of it, so we changed the original image to halftone and adjust the lebels to add the original colour back. It then looked right. The colours where to opposing for it to work.
The original image with a slight halftone pattern attahced. The
colours seem to work better there not so contrasting. Yet within pop art the contrast was the highlight
of the image. May use the black and white, shall ask for feedback and see which one is liked more.

TYPOGRAPHY
DEVELOPMENT
Using lyrics fomr the song enhances the recognisability of the album cover, allowing the voyer to take it in. Wanted to chose something that was in connection with this almost sleezy looking chracter in a vibrant suit. Wihtin the song there is a line, look our baby cause here i
come. Felt that fited perfectly with what trying to get across. Suited and booted and ready for the night, it says everything the image is encapsulating.

The font choosen was called Mexellent. It was a free font from dafont.com. Felt the disco nature of the font fitted in with the era and the song.

INSERTS
Had to create an insert that would sit inside the record sleeve. It could cotain up to hudred and forty characters to describe the album cover and your ideas. Have done that on a very minimal skope. This then follows the rest of the inserts have created giving a
nice flow between the record covers. Just desribed

Had to create an insert that would sit inside the record sleeve. It could cotain up to hudred and forty characters to describe the album cover and your ideas. Have done that on a very minimal skope. Have written - Blue Monday. The need to leave those worries
behind and fly away from it all. Was going to place two inserts, as the full instructions for making the plane arent displayed on the cover, so have made the rest of the instructions along with a backplate so you can make the plane, with the same colour scheme. Have
added a pattern to the paper just to give the plane more texture. Hopefully the size of the record sleeve wont effect the plane, allowing the user to make it.
