TEORIA BEMBase teoricaDefinitions, axial induction factor
Admiting that
the velocity in the far wake
it may be observed the axial induced velocityfactor in the far wake, 2a, is twice that across the
disc, a.

Conservation of Axial Momentum By applying the axial momentum equation toan annular ring at radius r with width dr,the local thrust is given by
combining with the two previous expressions for velocity

From Angular momentum conservation the local torque Q produced by the tangential force on a circular element at radius r is given by

Knowing Cl and Cd as a function of the angle of attack, it is now possible to determine the rotor disc Cx and Cy.

Equating the elemental thrust and torque obtained via momentum
theory Eqs 1 and 2 to theseexpression given by blade element theory Eqs 3 and 4 results in two
expressions, one for a and a second for a´. The set of non_linear equations
can be solvednumerically in a iterative fashion
