SOFTWARE DEVELOPED FOR DIEASES BURDEN STUDY OF TRIBALS in A &
N ISLANDS
The Andaman Islands are an Indian archipelago in the Bay of Bengal. These
roughly 300 islands are known for their palm-lined, white-sand beaches,
mangroves and tropical rainforests. Coral reefs supporting marine life such as
sharks and rays make for popular diving and snorkeling sites. Indigenous
Andaman Islanders inhabit the more remote islands, many of which are off limits

to visitors. The original population of the Andaman and Nicobar islands consist of
aboriginal indigenous people, i.e. tribal people.
They have been dwelling in the forests and jungles of the islands for
centuries, lead a hunter-gatherer lifestyle and appear to have lived in substantial
isolation for thousands of years. The so called “civilians” or city/town dwellers
only came later, earliest a few hundred years ago.DHS conduct research on
communicable and non-communicable diseases prevalent in Andaman and
Nicobar Islands with special emphasis on the health problem of the indigenous
tribes.
The objective of “Disease burden study of tribal‟s in A&N Islands” software
is to facilitates the DEPUTY DIRECTOR (TH), DHS with a web-based application
that provides Insertions, Updation and Generation of MIS Reports about the
various health profiles like height, weight, BMI, vaccines taken and diseases for
which the tribals undergone treatment etc.,
The existing process of “Diseases Burden Study of Tribals in A&N Islands”
is done manually, i.e., the diseases information is maintained in the record. If a
Researcher wants to search for the specific data, then he/she has to search the
records from the beginning to end manually. The proposed system would reduce
