Aims of Training Day

Specific Goals

The training day is exactly that – it is not a race or competition – all drivers come from different backgrounds and have different experience, the purpose of the day is to have a lot of fun in a safe environment and to learn the basics of drifting.

The aim is for all drivers to improve their performance as efficiently as possible. The team and the clients work together to improve every performance. We help each other in a constructive way such that all clients reach, as quickly as possible, each higher level of skill.

We have a large area for training but you should stop by applying the brakes smoothly and firmly whenever you feel out of control of the car.

Do not worry if the below looks daunting – all will become clear on the day and you will have a lot of fun and the instructors will always be supporting and developing the clients.

Specific aims for training level one – Rookie - that clients learn the techniques involved in..

Small diameter drifting Transitioning If fast learners

o Medium diameter drifting

These comprise Modules one, two and three and typically take a few days to master but will be attempted on the day.

There will also be fun combinations of these.

Each of the drivers should aim to develop controlled drifting with minimal shock to the car – i.e. transitioning using momentum and not clutch shock.

To achieve defined progress we drift in a controlled sequence.

1. Module Onea. Donut Stage One

i. Clockwise small diameter drift 720 degrees controlledii. Anti-Clockwise small diameter drift 720 degrees controlled

b. Donut Stage Twoi. Clockwise small diameter drift (around one cone) 720 degrees

controlledii. Anti-Clockwise small diameter drift (around one cone) 720

degrees controlled2. Module Two

a. Transition Stage Onei. Clockwise 630 degree to anti clockwise 630 degree no cones

ii. Anti clockwise 630 degree to clockwise 630 degree no conesb. Transition Stage Two

i. Clockwise 630 degree to anti clockwise 630 degree two conesii. Anti clockwise 630 degree to clockwise 630 degree two cones

3. Module Threea. Triangle

i. Three cone reversing direction drift – starting clockwiseii. Three cone reversing direction drift – starting anti clockwise

4. Module Foura. Medium Drifting

i. Medium diameter drift clockwiseii. Medium diameter drift anti clockwise

iii. Medium to small clockwise driftiv. Medium to small anti clockwise drift

b. Combinations One i. Three cone small diameter to medium diameter drift clockwise

startii. Three cone small diameter to medium diameter drift anti

clockwise startc. Combinations Two

i. Three cone medium to small to medium drift clockwise startii. Three cone medium to small to medium drift anti clockwise start

It is very, very, unlikely that we will complete all of this in one day – anyone who does will be set more difficult challenges…

I have sketched these out below – we will talk through them on the day, so don’t worry if you don’t follow theses in detail.
