STRATCO® Alkylation Technology

Alkylation has been well established in the United States for decades. In the last ten years there has been a signi"cant increase in demand for alkylation technology across the globe as countries focus on increasingly stringent restrictions on aromatic, benzene and sulfur levels in the gasoline pool. Alkylate is a key blendstock in reducing the level of these components to meet "nal gasoline speci"cations. Additionally, ole"n content and Rvp of the "nal gasoline blend are becoming increasingly important considerations. Alkylation can act as a butylene/butane containment process providing an outlet for excess ole"ns and butane that would otherwise end up in the gasoline pool. As a result, more re"neries are adding additional conversion capacity, with alkylation units being added within the FCC complex.
