(1) What is cultural heritage? CH becomes heritage if cultural + social values are attributed to it+ aesthetic appreciation. Heritage is put under a lot of pressure-it should be better recognised and protected! Idea of heritage is still drawing from the history of our world- heritage is mostly tangibile, material, monumental, grand of good asthetic value ICH is not easy to define; bcs it is intangible, live, evolving, focused on process: knowledge is less important than the process of getting it. ICH is a living culture within cultural communities ICH criteria; authenticity/community/testimony/characteristics/danger of disappearing

UNESCO Convention 2003, 32nd session The “intangible cultural heritage”: practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, skills + instruments, objects artefacts and cultural spaces recognized by communities, groups, individuals as part of their cultural heritage. ICH is transmitted from generation to generation is constantly recreated by communities + groups in response to their environment, + interaction with nature+history Sense of identity + continuity, promotes respect for cultural diversity and human creativity. It gives respect among communities, groups and individuals.

L'initiation aux métiers manuels L'Outil en Main a pour but l'initiation des jeunes dès l'âge de 9 ans jusqu'à 14 ans, aux métiers manuels, par des gens de métier, artisans ou ouvriers qualifiés, bénévoles à la retraite, avec de vrais outils au sein de vrais ateliers. Il permet aux Hommes et Femmes de métier, riches d'expérience de rester dans “la vie active” en transmettant aux jeunes générations les gestes de leur métier avec un savoir-faire Epanouir l'enfant Les gens de métier retraités font oeuvre utile en contribuant à l'épanouissement de l'enfant et en lui faisant découvrir leur métier. Ils reprennent ainsi, chaque semaine quelques heures d'activité réelle, le goût des projets et profitent de la relation privilégiée grands-parents/petits-enfants, ce qui donne à cette action une dimension exceptionnelle. Ils retrouvent aussi à l'atelier, pour un après-midi, leurs pairs avec lesquels ils partagent les mêmes valeurs. Par cette rencontre inter génération, l'Ancien permet à l'Enfant : De développer sa dextérité manuelle, d'apprendre le geste juste, de se découvrir un talent, et peut-être un métier. Il contribue à éveiller le regard de l'enfant sur le bel ouvrage et ce qu'il représente de savoir-faire, de patience, de dextérité manuelle. Il le sensibilise à son environnement architectural.Il permet aussi aux enfants qui sont en
