DYNASET Enhances Offshore Working
Men and equipment are put to the test at offshore work. Equipment must be efficient and reliable. Everybody remembers the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Factor that made things bad to worse was when the blow out preventer failed to fully engage after the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion incident. After the incident, companies have invested heavily on the development of technology. The new regulations impose more stringent requirements for the precautions of the blow out preventer.
Dynaset is involved with the development of technology by supplying efficient, compact and reliable HPW pumps for subsea companies. Today HPW technology is contributed to ensure that similar incident does not happen ever again. The HPW pumps produce high flow fluid to assist in shut down of blowout preventer systems on deepwater drilling rigs.
Dynaset hydraulic equipment is used in subsea and other offshore work. Safe and reliable hydraulic equipment is suitable for boats, ships, drilling rigs as well as tugboats. Among other things, large diesel engines of ships are providing a great power source for Dynaset equipment. This magazine provides information about few possibilities of Dynaset technology.

Typically high powered hydraulics is built in over 10 meter workboats. The hydraulics is used for run steering, bow thrusters, winches and cranes which makes adding Dynaset equipment even easier. With our know-how, hydraulic power can be turned into standard AC power, welding power, compressed air or washing power.
Saving Space
HGV system replaces large and heavy diesel genset. HGV frees up a lot of space from the boat’s engine room in many ways. First of all its dimensions are significantly smaller and it has less weight. Second it has no constant service points compared to a traditional ICE generator, thus it does not need an easily accessible prime location. Smaller size and less weight mean also that heavy duty mounting points are not needed.
Even bigger difference comes not just from the volume of the actual unit, but the total installation volume it requires – the space around the unit for heat dissipation, service access and noise control are virtually non-existent in HGV systems.
All Dynaset generators are also available with IP54 rating, when requirements for protecting equipment against the elements are high.

Cutting costs
Especially when the boat has hydraulic system built in or it requires one, the HG is no brainer. Hydraulic generator added to hydraulics costs significantly less than any comparable sized on board generator.
Even more important are the running costs. HGV systems are measured to save minimum 2-5 % in direct fuel costs. In addition the operator gets away from frequent services such as filter and oil changes and overhauls in every few years. The power source service costs are included in the normal maintenance of main engine.
Very big marine motors are not designed to run idle. That’s why adding the basic load of AC power generation to main engine typically lowers to idling fuel consumption.
DYNASET HGV system have proved to be a great cost saver in maritime industry. HGV is complete variable speed hydraulic driven generator system with pump, oil tank, valves, cooler and generator to add electric power generation to any engine.

All the electricity you need
Hydraulic generators are available from 3,5 kVA all the way to models over 100 kVA. They can handle work from basic work lights and power tools to cooling and ice production of a fishing vessel.
Hydraulic HWG models are available also for welding. This makes repairing easier out on the open sea. Welders produce both the welding power and auxiliary electricity for tools. Power range is between 180 and 400 Amperes.
Hydraulic DC generators are also available as many basic marine systems use 24 volt DC power to work. The technology is taking over the bridge all the time and power consumption for all the radar systems, navigation equipment, sonars and their screens is increasing. With high powered hydraulic DC charges the challenge is solved.
Dynaset hydraulics for other uses
HGV system allows adding auxiliary hydraulic connections to use hydraulics for more uses.Power washing and wet sand blasting can be
done with DYNASET HPW hydraulic power washer and its accessories. With optional WHU Water Heating Unit, washing is more efficient and results are better without chemicals.
Hydraulic air compressor can be used to power pneumatic tools, cleaning purposes and filling up the buoys, dinghies and RIBs. Especially in rescue and multipurpose vessels hydraulic air compressors are favored for firefighting systems such as CAFS foaming and oil recovery systems owing to their compact size. Dynaset hydraulic compressors save a lot of space on the boats and offer reliable way to produce compressed air.
Dredging equipment and barges can utilize their hydraulic power packs in new ways with Dynaset equipment. For example the hydraulic hammers can be used for underwater breaking by pressurizing the hammer chamber. Over pressure inside the hammer prevents the water from entering and destroying the expensive equipment.

DYNASET HGV Power Box produces high quality electricity for all work sites by utilizing a mobile machine’s engine power with improved efficiency. It includes both a hydraulic generator and a hydraulic system. With HGV Power Box, there is no need for secondary engine or fuel tank since the system is powered by hydraulics. New modular design allows easy, fast and flexible installation.
New Dynaset HGV Power Box is a variable hydraulic generator system which contains five modules: Dynaset HG Hydraulic Generator, an oil tank, a cooler, Dynaset high speed hydraulic pump and an electric central. The all-in-one-box system is easy to install on any truck chassis, vehicles, boats, ships etc. because of its modular structure and the compact size.

Dynaset securely takes power out from an engine of a carrier machine for Dynaset High Speed Hydraulic Pump. The hydraulic pump tolerates wide range of RPM and Dynaset technology ensures steady hydraulic flow for
HG hydraulic generator regardless the RPM of the engine. Therefore the hydraulic generator can be used also while driving.
Electricity Generation
The heart of the system is Dynaset HG Hydraulic Generator which transforms the hydraulic power into electricity. It generates high quality electricity in power range of 3,5-20 kVA for all AC-powered tools, lights, heating, cooling, welding, 1 or 3 phase motors etc. Frequency is regulated exactly to 50 or 60 Hz by automatic frequency control depending on customer’s needs.

Advantages of the modularity
HGV Power Box includes an oil tank and a cooler as modules which can be assembled in variety of ways. For example it is possible to assemble the oil tank and the cooler to the opposite sides. The Power Box is the complete package but it is possible to choose only desired modules according to one’s needs.
The modular system allows versatile installation on a carrier machine. Attachment points are located on all the sides of the product. Therefore Power Box can be located practically in any free space of a carrier machine.

Dynaset HPW Hydraulic High Pressure Water Pumps are proven solution for various tasks when working offshore due to their compact size and high performance. This guarantees high working efficiency on boats, working barges, ships, tugboats and drilling rigs etc.
HPW pumps guarantee best results on cleaning and upkeep work either with high pressure water or using wet sand blasting. HPW pumps tolerate hard conditions and some models can be used with sea water.
Subsea applications
Several models of Dynaset HPW pumps are used for various tasks in subsea applications. Thanks to the pumps’ compact size, they are ideal for ROV applications in under water work.
Today reliable HPW is providing high flow fluid to assist with shutting down blow out preventer systems on deepwater drilling rigs as contingency if the rig system fails. The new rules require that the blow out preventer must be closed in less than 45 seconds in case of emergency. This has been a necessity after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The new requirements are raising the standards for pumps as well. Subsea companies and Dynaset are determined to increase safety with high quality technology.

Power washing in working boats
HPW is widely used for power washing in working boats such as tugboats and fishing vessels. Their big diesel engines provide power source for hydraulic power washers. High performance pumps provide washing power from10kW to 200kW. That means the HPW hydraulic power washer can handel various tasks from basic power washing to most demanding purposes.

Quality of the Dynaset products has always been excellent and with the new product line the company has been able to improve it even further. Experiences of quality over the years and technical improvements of the new product line have been so convincing that the company decided to double the warranty period for customers benefit.
The new warranty have been valid since Blue Hydraulics was released in March 2014 at Conexpo trade show in Las Vegas. The new extended warranty period practically apply to all the new Dynaset hydraulic equipment.

Dynaset hydraulic generators, power washers, compressors and magnet generators were invented by General Manager Reijo Karppinen in the 80’s. Dynaset Oy was founded in 1986. The company has evolved from a small one man business to the global leading manufacturer of hydraulic generators, power washers and compressors.

Still running
Dynaset products are compact, powerful and reliable. Number of products are loyally serving customers even though they have been made decades ago. High quality and reliability is something that Dynaset is known for. To show what reliability really means, we are introducing few of the products from the past decades that are still running today.
Our customer bought HMG Hydraulic Magnet Generator in May 1987. He is one of the first customers that Dynaset has privilege to serve. This number 12th overall product is still working and serving the customer.
There has been significant improvement in our hydraulic power washers. This HP200 is 18th power washer made by Dynaset. Comparison between old HP200 and new Blue Hydraulics model of HPW200 would show that over the years size has been reduced significantly. The new design is also easier for the eye.
The HPW200 Hydraulic Power Washer in the picture below celebrated its 20th birthday on October 2014. The power washer is now on its second owner Koneurakointi Veljekset Mylläri Partnership.

The ISDE took place in San Juan, Argentina. As tough as DYNASET Offroad Areena team members are, six days with sand, dust and heat took their toll. In race days they measured 5000 burned calories per day. However at all times the team stayed positive and enjoyed the whole ride. The team represented Finland with pride, also during pit stops and evening event. Mysterious character Reba Bellerina attracted attention with his stunts.
Team members really enjoyed their time in Argentina. Participants had rough but unforgettable ride in the desert. People in Argentina were very nice and the team noticed that the country is developing rapidly.

The FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) is the most important event of Enduro motorcycling worldwide where national teams compete testing the reliability of the motorcycles and the skills of the drivers. DYNASET Offroad Areena team members were the only Finnish drivers in this year’s event. Finnish drivers Reijo Karppinen, Pekka Hoikkala and Esa Reijo took the race as an adventure.

There is always time for co-operation
Although the timetable of the visit in Argentina was tight, Dynaset General Manager Reijo Karppinen managed to find time for co-operation as well. Between races he happened to meet 45 different business associates despite that this trip was about enjoying the ride with dirtbike.
Dynaset in South America
Dynaset has strengthened the service level for the South American dealers by hiring a new Area Sales Manager. Raimo Pedro Manninen is responsible for whole South American market. He is native speaker of Portuguese, speaks fluent English, Finnish and can communicate also with Spanish.
We are dedicated to improve our customer service. Supporting customers by providing service in multiple languages is a key value for Dynaset. Currently our range of languages cover English, Finnish, Swedish, German, French, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish.
Dynaset recruited Raimo Pedro Manninen as Area Sales Manager to serve South American dealer network. Area Sales Manager Zili Shi will be responsible for Chinese market. Australian and rest of the Oceanian market has had new Area Sales Manager for a year now since Matthias Hein begun his career at Dynaset.

Usually when Dynaset organizes events the Workplace Health Team is to thank for. This time it was totally different. The Executive Team did all the hard work and no-one else had absolutely no idea what had been planned.
Letting Loose on Friday Afternoon
This event started at the factory in Ylöjärvi where the teams were formed. Each of the teams received a box with instructions of the first destination and the first task. The tasks were placed in 4 different locations in Tampere city. After each task the teams got an envelope which included information about the following task. In order to find the location participants needed to navigate to the destination.
Motocross Challenge
Maybe the most thrilling tasks was to climb the stairs by motorcycle. For some of us just driving a motorcycle was challenging enough. But the most rewarding thing was to pass the obstacle and do it. As many of you would have been guessed, yes, this check point was operated by our General Manager Reijo Karppinen.

Spider Web
This task was to test elasticity of the teams and common problem solving. Every team member had to go through the net from different hole without touching the thread. As you can see from the pictures – solutions vary… The task required speed and a little bit problem solving when the teams needed to fill a big bucket with water from Hämeenkoski rapids by using smaller ones to increase enough weight to raise Dynaset flag. This check-point was operated by our Sales Manager Anni Karppinen.
Our Executive Team surprised our employees while ago. They had decided to arrange an event by themselves. One of their goals was to make sure that everyone was able to fully participate without having the burton of organizing or implementing. Our Executive Team planned and organized the whole event without the help of Dynaset personnel.

HKR Potato Gun
As Dynaset is known for its innovations they had not been forgotten from the tasks either. Have you used HKR hydraulic screw compressor as a potato gun to shoot blocks? Well, team Dynaset now has. This task did not only require steady arm but also had to be able to set up the hydraulic screw compressor which was installed on Fiat Scudo. This task was created by our R&D Manager Timo Nieminen.
Pimp the Production Manager’s Car
The most hilarious task was to “Pimp our Production Manager’s Car” Toyota Corolla DX. First everyone had to dress like Finnish red neck teens from the 90’s with jackets and caps. Then the car had to be decorated with wunderbaums, lights, bullet hole stickers etc. to have authentic teen mobile look. Before pushing the car into move and cruising at the huge parking lot, everyone had to chill together and have some energy drinks like the youngsters in the past decades. The whole driving experience was recorded on film. Our Production Manager Tero Ylä-Soininmäki really put himself on the line with his operated task and so did the teams.
This Corolla DX can be found from YouTube on music video ‘Wunderboy’ of Finnish teenage band called Justimus. It is a must see! It clearly describes the teenage culture in Finland, especially during the 90’s and maybe give better idea what this task was all about.
And finally they rested...
The rest of the evening was pure relaxation by dining together and enjoying warmth of sauna. The whole group gathered to watch other teams’ videos and pictures of the task. All in all it was a great day for employees. The day was filled with action, humor, and smiles.
