DYNASET MAGAZINE NO. 1, 2016

The Birth of Powered by Hydraulics

I was only ten years old when I first knew that I’m going to be an entrepreneur. At first I started with my own car repair business. Right after completing engineer studies I created an innovative business plan including the principle of utilizing the hydraulic power of mobile machinery to produce electricity, high pressure water, compressed air, magnet power and vibration. The original business plan is so profound that it is still in use today.

DYNASET Oy was established with a vision of wide set of products. It was three decades ago since I designed and built first hydraulic generators and magnet generators in my garage during weekends and night time. In first couple of years I expanded the product range to power washers and air compressors. Thirty years after the key principle of this company still remains the same: Powered by Hydraulics.

Soon I was looking for new markets. Back then I didn’t speak any foreign languages but that didn’t prevent me from expanding the business to abroad. You just have to understand customer’s needs, offer win-win solutions and have some stamina.

Over the years Dynaset has grown. We have plenty of experts on board and we have an international dealer network which is operating in sixty countries. Now we have wide product range which is constantly expanding.

Dynaset have had a role of a pioneer from early days until today and still we are pioneers in several markets. But we are proud to preach about the possibilities of utilizing hydraulics and providing high quality equipment to improve the efficiency and productivity of mobile machinery.

The first thing to draw attention in the new KPL-unit is its renewed water tanks that are made of plastic. On the top of the plastic water tank stands out the standard HPW 200 High Pressure Water pump and a water pistol with a hose reel beside it. The KPL unit feels like a brand new, yet a safe and a familiar at the same time.

Dynaset launches a new high pressure street washing unit for spring’s street sweeping season. You can recognize the new KPL unit by the modernized appearance.

Better flexibility with quick couplings

The new KPL units are designed to last longer than carrier machines. When carrier machine is needed to renew or it is out of order due maintenance, the new KPL unit is easy to attach to another carrier machine. with a quick couplings. Dynaset provides quick couplings for almost every manufacturers adaptors.

The new street washing units are equipped with washing pipe turning unit, excluding KPL S unit. Washing pipe turning unit is available with hydraulic and electric turning control. By turning the street washing pipe the dirt is easy to wash near walls and pavements. All street washing units come with washing pistol and with 20 meter hose reel which helps cleaning apartment entrances, corners and stairs.

New models

The new KPL models got new names with the updates. Smallest model, with one water tank module is known as KPL S. KPL M consist of two water tank modules, KPL L consist of three and KPL XL consist of four water tank modules. Each water tank modules volume is 280 liters and with four water elements KPL XL unit can hold up to 1120 liters of washing water.

KPL S unit is a compact installation as the water tank is turned sideways. This way the center of mass is kept toward the center of the carrier machine. In KPL M, KPL L and KPL XL units the water tanks are installed in lengthwise so that the bevel gives good view to the surface to be washed. The frame of the KPL M, L and XL models are made of galvanized steel.

WHEN EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC EQUIPMENT

NO MORE WAITING... NO MORE FUMBLING...

Hannu Vilkas is starting his day at the construction site of Iso Omena “The Big Apple mall” in Espoo, Finland. A massive, cramped and multilayer construction site, including 100K square meters of bus terminal and subway station underneath it, is going to be completed in next three years. In addition to the above, there are ongoing expansions of the mall at the same time. Obviously the construction site is a rather challenging work environment.

The new CAT M318F is Hannu’s third excavator. The experienced operator has equipped the excavator with DYNASET HG 6,5kVA Hydraulic Generator and DYNASET HK450 Hydraulic Compressor to save time and allow working without any unnecessary down time. The generator and compressor are also pleasing the foremen as electricity and compressed air are always available for use. When Hannu arrives to the construction site, everything goes smoothly thanks to his equipped excavator.

“When we are starting a new worksite, nothing is easily available. My excavator includes everything that is missing from a worksite”, Hannu explains.

“When working has been going on for a while, construction workers’ tools will have dead batteries or someone will need electricity for an angle grinder or a concrete mixer. At that point my equipped excavator becomes extremely valuable thanks to its hydraulic generator”, he continues.

“Working doesn’t have to stop, not for a moment. There is no more waiting or fumbling. Fully equipped excavator will save valuable time”, he highlights.

Hannu Vilkas bought a new Caterpillar for his company “Willen Kaivuupalvelu” and decided it was time to equip the excavator to serve the needs of the worksites. He wanted to have all the neccessary equipment available right when they are needed on worksite. He found the best solutions to produce electricity and compressed air from Dynaset.

“The only downside is that I didn’t equip my previous excavator with DYNASET’s genset and compressor” - Hannu Vilkas

6

Page 7: DYNASET Magazine 2016 No 1

Electricity for every use

The compact HG 6,5kVA Hydraulic Generator is conveniently located in the excavator’s tool box. AC power can be delivered to the work locations with a 15 meters long cable reel. Three phase electricity is also available.

“This hydraulic generator is unbeatable. Even when the cable is long, there is still plenty of power. In my experience with this amount of electrical power, you can do everything that is needed in this type of worksite.

Compressed Air 450 liters per minute

The HK450 Hydraulic Compressor is providing compressed air which is useful for example pre-drilling clean-up of rock and the filters of sweepers. The hose reel is over 15 meters long. The compressor is producing 450 liters per minute at a working pressure level of 8 bar.

“Only your imagination is limiting how the hydraulic compressor and generator are applied. I’m using compressed air when maintaining the excavator. It’s handy for cleaning filters and tire pressure control. That will keep my excavator and tires in top shape. I also provide assistance for other’s machines when needed”, Hannu Vilkas says.

Top quality

Hannu Vilkas is conviced of the high quality of Dynaset hydraulic equipment.

“These Dynaset products are known for their durability. When I bought my new excavator, Dynaset professionals installed the equipment. These are my first ones but definitely not the last. Although they are so durable that it might take a long time until I need to buy new ones. When you are about to replace your excavator, you can shift the generator and compressor to a new machine. If you don’t brake the equipment by yourself, they will last for ages”, he laughs.

DYNASET 301986 - 2016

In 1986 Reijo Karppinen had the revolutionizing idea of powering hydraulics of any mobile machine to make high pressure water, electricity and compressed air. The idea was born in a garage in Ylöjärvi, Finland. It is a classic entrepreneur story.

This year, 2016, Dynaset has reached its 30 year mark. We have come a long way from 1986 to 2016. From backyard garage to a full sized factory. From a single idea to countless products and innovations. From one man to a world leader in its field.

The Beginning of Powered by Hydraulics

From the beginning Dynaset has been the pioneer of the field. Dynaset was created out of nowhere; no markets, no customers, no products to compare to – just an idea.

The idea was refined through detailed engineering to the award winning hydraulic high pressure pumps, generators and compressors. After having developed these products - the hard and grinding “missionary style” selling followed.

Internationalization

The launching of the sales campaign in Finland in 1986 was a success and soon the focus was on Europe. Even though there definitely were language barriers abroad, the demo shows of the Dynaset

10

Page 11: DYNASET Magazine 2016 No 1

products where a success. With close co-operation with local dealers and equipment manufacturers, the new market building took wind to its sails. Dynaset grew through Scandinavia to European markets in the early 90’s and by the 2000 Dynaset had customers all around the world.

Scaling Up

From the early years Dynaset has grown from the garage to bigger and bigger factory sites – the last enlargement of the factory being performed in 2012. The secret of Dynaset’s growth has always been openness and courage to take on new innovations, markets and opportunities – and dreading the status quo. This has led to the state of ongoing growth for these 30 years.

The Priority

When companies grow the single end customer is always in danger to shrink and shrink in the company’s eyes. At Dynaset the end customer has always been at the center of Dynaset’s focus. Without happy and loyal end customers, we wouldn’t have any business at all. We meet our customers daily and we want to keep their needs on top priority.

Development and New Innovations

This is why we are constantly designing new products and further developing the existing ones – to give the best to our customers. During the years we have grown our expertise and product category to hydraulic magnets, power boosters and vibras to name a few. This year we are launching the renewed design of KPL street washing unit and first in the world a new bolt-on hydraulic PTO for transverse engines called HPTO.

To the Future with Confidence

In 2016 the world is at change in its economical state and turbulence. In Dynaset we have seen this before in the 90’s. Like then in Finland, we see it as an opportunity for us to help and encourage our customers, dealers and partners to maintain their vison, jobs, and growth in the future by offering them better solutions powered by hydraulics.

NEW HPTO TURNS YOUR CAR INTO A POWER SOURCE

USE HYDRAULIC EQUIPMENT WHERE EVER YOU GO

First in the world we have designed a bolt-on PTO for transverse engine vehicles, the HPTO. It can turn you front wheel driven car into a hydraulic power source and it can be installed onto any transverse engine vehicle.

For the years we have built PTO for inline motors for many cars and brands, but never for a transverse engine car. This gave us an idea to design a new type of PTO suitable for these engines.

After designing the new HPTO we realized that we needed a new demo car to present its power and capabilities. During the winter we took contact with Volkswagen Finland, Volkswagen Hyötyautot Oy, for an opportunity to build our upcoming HPTO onto some of their cars.

As we dug deeper into the Volkswagen’s options, we saw that the Caddy had the perfect size and specifications for a compact service vehicle – and it didn’t have a factory option for PTO. When we presented this idea to VW they were thrilled to co-operate with us and now our HPTO is available for Caddy in VW catalogs as well.

The HPTO turns the Caddy, or any other transverse

engine vehicle, into a hydraulic power unit. It can transform the engine’s power into 25 kW of hydraulic power – resulting in 75 l/min of hydraulic flow at 210 bar of pressure. It gives plenty of power for your hydraulic tools and appliances.

We and our partner VW are eagerly looking to see the HPTO doing the work all around the world.

You can find the HPTO Caddy at tradeshows around Europe e.g. BAUMA 2016 in 11-17th April at stand FN 1017/5 and Maamess 2016 21 -23th April at stand VP-136.

If you are interested in the Dynaset HPTO, contact Dynaset for more detailed information.

We present you, first in the world, the HPTO – a bolt-on hydraulic power take-off for transverse engine vehicles for any hydraulic tool or appliance you need.

DYNASET FITNESS CHALLENGE

SIX MONTHS OF HARD TRAINING

As we had done and taken part in so many things we wanted to benchmark how fit we are. From November 2015 till May 2016 Dynaset’s employees take part in a fitness challenge offered by X-Method.In the program every participant’s fitness is tested and reviewed after six months of training. During the six months the participants are being coached to gain better results and overall fitness.

The coaching focuses on improving overall physical health and not just some parts of it like strength or endurance - flexibility and body recovery play major part here as well.

One of the toughest parts, this far, has been the ability to keep up with the diet and amount of food - and we don’t mean the lack of it. The program insists that you should eat at least 3 full meals and 3-4 “snacks” during the day – and don’t forget about the 3 l of water you have to consume. Even eating all the “snack” meals is tough when considering the amount

and the frequency of the eating.

Although the program has demanded some change in our normal life routines, the program has inspired us at Dynaset to optimize out daily living to keep our fitness in top order. It has shown development areas for everybody. For some it is the body recovery, some it is the strength or endurance and for all it seems to be the correct diet and eating habits.

The Program is now at its final steps and soon we will see if we have overcome the goals we set when we took on this road.

Now we want to encourage everybody to set some goals and reach for better wellbeing and fitness. We have seen that everybody can improve some part of their fitness. Now at the verge of Dynaset’s 30 year anniversary we definitely want to be as fit as we can to grow and improve for the next 30 years!

The wellbeing of Dynaset’s employees has always been a top priority. During the years Dynaset has kept different kinds of work health promotions and activities to cheer up and keep employees motivated in and outside the work. We have had Olympics, motocross, football, floor ball team, ice hockey, bowling, marathon to mention a few activities during the years.
