I am currently a 19 year old, sophomore attending Slippery Rock University where I am studying journalism and sport management. I currently run cross-country and track for the university, and not only ice-skate, but also coach figure skating when I am home. I remain in close contact with my friends and family at all times and am always on the go. There is always something for me to be doing whether it is school-related, work-related, sport-related, or just-working out and having a good time. I never really have free time, but that is fine because I am not sure what I would do if I did.
Looking back on last year and this past semester I have definitely learned a lot. I also have found out how important it is to make a lot of friends and not be afraid to try anything. The more open and willing to change or make adjustments one is, the better off that individual will be in the end. There are numerous opportunities out there, it just depends on what each is willing to risk. Here at the Rock, I feel as if most people respect you for you and are willing to support you either way. Anyone has the ability to build the framework of their own networking system.

I am really hoping that after I graduate with a degree from Slippery Rock University that I am able to land a job in a reasonable amount of time in my field of study. I would ultimately love to write for Sports Illustrated, but I know that will not only take a great deal of time and devotion, but the chances of landing that job are very narrow. If I do not succeed, I will settle for writing for a smaller sports magazine and if that still does not produce the desired results, I will accept a job writing sports stories for newspapers.
