Reavis Elementary School kindergarten class will enter college in the year 2028, in a world where creative thinking and information literacy will be required skill sets. The recently completed 70,407 sq. ft. addi- tion is an inspiring learning space focused on providing opportunities to think creatively, grow intellectually and become digitally savvy prob- lem solvers of the future. To inspire creative thinking, a playful single- story environment of patterned brick and block was designed. This year’s W.C. Reavis Elementary School kindergarten class will enter college in the year 2028, in a world where creative thinking and information literacy will be required skill sets. The recently completed 70,407 sq. ft. addi-tion is an inspiring learning space focused on providing opportunities to think creatively, grow intellectually and become digitally savvy prob-lem solvers of the future.

To inspire creative thinking, a playful single-story environment of patterned brick and block was designed. Striped cedar overhangs lead to abundantly colorful wall space and built-in showcase areas for display of student work. Playful, bright geometric ceiling and floor pat-terns, and corridor “street” signage, create avenues of exploration leading to stimulating opportunities to learn. Outside, on a large, uniform site embraced by the surrounding single-family, residential community, an open-air classroom provides new perspectives.

As digital learners, all Reavis students access computers in their classroom learn-ing labs via a one-to-one computing initiative. Kindergarteners also enjoy Listening Labs, while the Learning Resource Center offers
