Palace 9 Clinton 1931-? 1969 3,660 seats WIKIPEDIA: The Palace Theatre was originally built as an RKO movie palace. Noted architect John Eberson designed it in the Austrian Baroque style. Construction on the building took place from June 1930 to October 1931. When it opened, it was Albany's largest movie theater. In 1940, The Palace was sold to FAST Theatres (part of Fabian Enterprises) when RKO exited the theater business due to antitrust concerns (See United States v. Paramount Pictures, Inc.). The Rolling Stones played at The Palace in April 1965 during their first United States tour. Genesis also played at the venue in December 1974 in support of their double album "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway". The theater underwent a $250,000 renovation in 1960 (when more seating was added) but closed in September 1969 because it was unprofitable. Soon after its closure, the building was purchased by the City of Albany for $90,000 and reopened. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 4, 1979. In 2002, an extensive restoration project began. It was completed in January 2003 at a cost of $3 million.

Proctors Theatre 432 State December 27th, 1926-1978, 1982-1987, 2010- as a cinema. 2,789 seats Same owners of the Plaza. http://www.proctors.org/ Proctors is a former vaudeville house located in the Capital District of the State of New York, in Schenectady, New York where many famous artists performed, notably Mariah Carey (whose 1993 top-rated Thanksgiving special was taped there), Hal Holbrook, and George Burns, as well as many others. The theatre was opened on December 27, 1926. It was designed by architect Thomas Lamb. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 as Building #79003237. The theatre had fallen into disrepair throughout the 60's and 70's while population shifted and moved out of Schenectady. The theatre was going to be torn down to be turned into a parking lot until a group of activists joined together and created the Arts Districts of Schenectady.

Northway Drive-In Northway Exit 42 Late 1960-? 1985 This drive-in was very popular with the people of Montréal, QC since there were no drive-ins in the Montréal area until 1970. It was booked by Brandt Theaters 1969-1985. “Yes, I am well aware of the Quebec Drive-ins. The owners of the Boucherville and St. Mathieu Drive-Ins made frequent visits to the Northway Drive-In prior to their opening. I knew the owners personally. I know the St. Mathieu Drive-In is closed and I think the Boucherville theatre might also be closed.” John

You may be wondering why is this ad is in French? It came from Montréal’s La Presse, an French daily.
