Themotivationfordesigningtheverticalmodelwastomakeiteasierto

usealligator-clipjumperwiresaswellasregularsolidorstrandedwirewithouttheneedoftools.Thehorizontalmodelrequiressomesortofsharpobjecttospreadthespringswideenoughtoinsertthewire.Theverticalspringscanjustbepushedtothesidewithafingertomakeabigenoughopeningtoinsertwires.Aswiththehorizontalmodel,thisisusedonlytomakesimpleconnectionsandtogiveusersabetterunderstandingofthefunctionofabreadboard.Thephotosdon'tshowit,butweoftenputlongspringshorizontallyalongthesidestosimulatetherails.
