March 2016

Dear Cattlemen,

Welcome to our 16th Annual bull sale, March 20th here at Ashby at 2 pm (MDT), for our live auction.

We're excited about the sire groups we're offering this year including 12 sons out of our herd sire Vin-Mar

Black Iron 3523. The Black Iron calves topped all three progeny groups (bulls, steers & heifers) in weaning

weight this fall. Since cattle prices have dropped off considerably from last year...now is the time to look

for new growth genetics that will add pounds and these Black Iron sons fit that bill.

Weaning weight still pays the bills for most of us and we encourage you to look at the Angus breed

average and our sale offering comparison table on page 3. Our sale offering is just a hair less than the

breed average on the BW EPD but our bulls were 30 lbs. heavier on their 205 day weights and 15 pounds

more than breed average on their WW EPD. More pounds, more dollars.

Our cattle must work for a living just like yours and we manage them the same way most commercial

herds are managed here in the Sandhills. We don't creep feed the calves prior to weaning, wanting those

weaning weights to be a true reflection of calves own genetic potential , their dams milking ability and

what Mother Nature provides in the forage.

With our earlier sale date this year, the catalog was prepared about two weeks earlier than last year

and we haven't collected yearling data before the catalog went to print. Be sure to check out our website

www.edangus.com, for yearling data, ultrasound scan data and scrotal measurements in the weeks to

come. We'd like to thank all of our customers past and present for our success over the years. You have made

our progress possible. As always, you're welcome to stop by any time and look at the bulls here at home.

Want to see what the female side of the calf crop looks like? Allow a little extra time for your visit and you

can see the "girls" too. There's a heavy Black Iron influence in this group as well and we're looking

forward to seeing them reach production.

The sale starts promptly at 2 pm. There'll be finger foods and good visiting after the sale. Mark March

20th on your calendar. See ya then.

LOSS OF USE/MORTALITY INSURANCE OR BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE

E D Angus bull buyers will have their choice of the Mortality/Loss of Use coverage OR the published BreedingSeason Guarantee listed on page 2. E D Angus will pay 1/2the cost (5% of the purchase price, the remaining 5% will beadded to the buyers invoice) if the buyer chooses the Loss ofUse/Mortality coverage over the Breeding Season Guarantee. The policy will be in effect for one year from the date of purchase.

Loss of Use /Mortality Coverage: The value of the bull considered to be the purchase price as listed on the Date ofSale, considered to be the Agreed Value on the policy. Theonly exceptions are if, during the policy term, you attempt tosell the bull at auction but it does not sell, have it appraisedat a lower value than the purchase price or castrate the bull.

Full Mortality: 100% of the value of the bull(s) in the event ofdeath or humane destruction as a result of a life-threateninginjury. All claims must be immediately reported to the Com-pany. All mortality claims made to the Company require apost mortem examination by a Veterinarian.

Accident, Sickness & Disease (ASD) Infertility (formerly Loss ofUse) Claims settled at 80% of the value of the bull, less salvage value, in the event of permanent impotency, infertility or being incapable of serving females as a result ofan accident, illness, or disease sustained during the policy.

Coverage: The coverage is available on the Date of Sale forthose who choose to insure their bull(s). The policy will insure the bull from the Date of Sale for a period of One Year. All claims must be immediately reported to the Company. Allmortality claims made to the Company require a postmortem examination by a Veterinarian. Under the ASD Infertility extension of coverage, the animal’s inability tonaturally service cows must be diagnosed by a Veterinarian.A Loss – as defined by the policy – shall occur if after the dateof diagnosis and first report, the bull cannot breed due to accident, illness or disease. The Company may require a second examination to affirm infertility. (Fertility tests canprovide negative readings due to weather, change in feed, etc.) Failure of a Breeding Soundness Exam is not in and of itself necessarily indicative of an accident, illness or disease. This is an abbreviated summation of the actual policy termsand conditions. Please read the entire policy for full coverage details.

(See Breeding Season guarantee on page 3).

Announcements:Announcements from the block on sale day take precedence overthe catalog.

Retaining Interests: E D Angus is retaining 1/3 interest in all bulls sold, unless otherwisestated in catalog or on the block. This does not restrict the buyersuse since bulls sell with full possession. Very few bulls will actually be collected and when it does occur, we will work with thebuyer at their convenience.

Liability: All persons who attend this sale do so at their own risk, legal or otherwise, for their safety or the safety or behavior of the animals. The owners and their staff assume no liability for property loss orany accident that may occur.

i50K Genomic Zoetis® Testing The bulls with this icon in their pedigree have EPD's that have been genomically enhanced (GE-EPDs). Genomic results are a

way to enhance predictability of current selection tools, to achieve higher accuracy (increased predictability and decreasedrisk) on EPDs for younger animals. This means that in addition to the pedigree, performance and progeny information thatare used in the calculation and reporting of Angus EPDs, genomic test results have also been incorporated into the EPD. TheseGE-EPDs on unproven (non-parent) or young animals have the same amount of accuracy as if they had recorded 8-20 calves, depending on the trait.

Angus Breed average EPD & Performance comparison with E D Angus 2016 Bull Sale Offering.

We've worked hard to keep our herd's EPD and performance in check, to balance with our environment. This should allow youto make our bulls work well in your herds, to bring you extra dollars in the fall without breaking your feed budget. E D Angusbull’s weaning weights, yearling weights, $W & $B were significantly higher than breed average. Their milk epd's average isalso significantly lower than the breed average.

BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEEAll bulls selling for $4,000 or more will be covered 50% by E.D. Angus, if they are injured during their first breeding season.Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bulls.

Fifty % of the value of the injured bull, minus any salvage value, will be given as credit in a future sale or toward a replacementbull if one is available. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should in-jury occur and prior to animal being sold for salvage. A copy of the sales receipt must be received by E D Angus to receiveproper credit. All claims must be made by September 1, 2016.

Example 1: A $8,000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $4,000 minus any salvage value will be given the buyer.

Example 2: A $4,000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $2,000 minus any salvage value will be given the buyer.

Example 3: A $3,900 bull is injured and will not heal. No credit is given. Buyer retains all salvage value.

This is not a mortality policy. Nor does it cover mismanagement. Should you desire additional coverage, mortality coveragecan be arranged through Novitch Insurance Agency. We urge you to buy mortality insurance on all bulls sold here at E DAngus.

We selected Black Iron in the 2014 Vin-Mar Cattle Co. sale. He was a member of the Reserve Champion NWSS Carload for Vin Mar. We're verypleased with his progeny's performance as his sons and daughters bothadded pounds to weaning weight average in our 2015 calf crop. These BlackIron sons that sell this year are deep ribbed and long hipped with good scrotal development. Black Iron ranks in the top 1% of the breed for WW andYW and $F EPD's and top 4% for $W and $B. The calves out of these BlackIron sons will make great feeder cattle. We used him heavily in our A.I. program the first year out, having over 40 head of bulls, steers and heiferson the ground in 2015. Looking to add pounds to your next calf crop? Selectone or a few of these half brothers to add to your bull lineup in 2016.
