Rugby Clinics!

Over the last few weeks, the Senior Students have been lucky enough

to partake in weekly rugby clinics with Lenny from the Melbourne

Storm. The students learnt ball skills, how to set up for offence and

defence, how to tag and most importantly how to score a TRY! The

students also played many different and fun games to test their new

skills. Lenny is a great coach and we are very lucky to have him come to

our school and run the wonderful clinics for our students each year. He

also organises the Rugby Gala day in Term 3, where our students will

get to use their new skills in competition.

Students who partook in the clinics were also given the

opportunity to register for their very own rugby ball, for FREE!

1. Contact details

There are times when we will need to contact you, including on the day if your child is absent and you haven’t informed the school as to why. Do we have your most up to date contact details? If not, please contact the school on 98013289 or [email protected] so we can update our records. Please include parent/carers’ name, address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details or your circumstances change. 2. Notify the school of your child’s absence

Protecting the safety and well-being of children through the reporting and monitoring of absenteeism is the responsibility of both parents/carers and schools. Please remember to call the school on 98013289 or email at [email protected] early in the morning if your child is going to be away or late for school so your child’s absence can be recorded correctly. 3. Same-day notification of unexplained student absences

Our school will text you as soon as practicable on the day if a student is not at school and you haven’t notified the school as to why. If you are notified by the school that your child is away without a reason, please contact us as soon as possible by replying to the text message, foning or emailing the school to let us know where your child is. If we cannot reach you because we don’t have your correct contact details (i.e.: message notification fail, disconnected number), then we will make contact with any emergency contact/s nominated on your child’s file held by the school, where possible, on the same day of the unexplained absence. Please remember it is your responsibility to contact us to provide an explanation for your child's absence from school, and where possible, please inform us in advance of upcoming absences.

School Council News – June 2018

In this month’s meeting, School Council’s main points of discussion were around future

improvements for our school. The areas identified as priorities moving forward include

replacing playground equipment, updating our phone/PA system, and redesigning and

updating our school website. As you know, our PFA have already been fundraising for our

playground and we thank the PFA and our school community for their contributions

towards this.

Our other subcommittees are also doing great work with our Finance & Facilities committee

having organised the cleaning of our gutters and fixing our leaking taps, the School

Promotions committee planning a letterbox drop to advertise our Storytime sessions for

future students and Kidcare preparing for the new Childcare Package to be rolled out on

July 2nd. The Education/Policy Review committee will have a number of policies for us to

look at next month.

Please remember that parents are welcome to join any of these subcommittees and if you

are interested, please let Lisa or Julienne know at the office.

Swimming and Gymnastics Payments Those families who paid the sports levy at the beginning of the year can use this payment to pay for the Swimming and/or the Gymnastics program. It is also important to note that CSEF funds does not cover the cost of both the Gymnastics and Swimming programs – there will be $5.00 to pay. Please contact Julienne in the office or by phone (98013289) or by email [email protected] if you would like to use the Sports Levy or CSEF funds to pay for swimming or gymnastics.

Jump Off Day!

Thank-you to all families for getting active and supporting the Jump Rope for Heart

program with their on-line and off-line donations. These funds help to raise vital

funds for heart disease. All off-line forms and donations are due back Friday

22nd June.

Did you know?

*Currently 80% of Australians 5-17 years of age do not meet 60 minutes of exercise

a day;

*70% of 5-17 year olds spend more than 2 hours a day in front of a screen;

*1 in 4 5-12 year olds are either overweight or obese;

*There is a significant, positive link between physical activity participation and

academic performance.

School Traffic

A quick reminder that cars are not permitted to use the driveway as a place to

drop off children. There are a lot of students using the footpath and the

driveway area at drop off and pick up times and cars pulling in and out make it

dangerous for these children.

For the safety of our kids please do not use the driveway. KIDCARE: Before and After School Care A reminder to all families that our school provides a Before and After School Care Program for those who require such a service. The program operates extended hours both before and after school. The staff at Kidcare are committed to the care and wellbeing of your children in a relaxed, friendly and fun environment. We focus on a homely, safe environment with stimulating developmental, social and recreational activities for your children while meeting the care requirements of families.
