Dear Parents and Friends,
Annual Presentation Assembly A reminder that this important event is on Thursday, 11th
December at 6.30pm, at the RSL Club Auditorium. As previously advised, this year, students and their families will
not receive notification of an award being presented, as it is anticipated that all students will attend. Students are
required to be in full school uniform, as befitting such a
special school event.
This year, a Program of Events will not be available on the
night. In next week’s newsletter, there will be an Order of Events printed, so that parents are aware of the planned
schedule. Our 2014 school leaders are busy practicing for this special event, as they will be running the assembly.
Parents of all kindergarten students are reminded that these
students all receive a certificate and book award for completing their first year at school and these will be
presented at this assembly by their class teachers. Year 6 Graduation Certificates will also be presented.
Proud & Deadly Awards A reminder that these awards are being presented tomorrow, Wednesday, 3rd December at the Deniliquin RSL
Club commencing at 11.00am. Invitations have been sent to recipients and their families.
Assemblies The assembly being held in the Bradley Hall this coming
Friday morning at 9am will be the final assembly for 2014.
Huge thanks to all the teachers and their classes for the poems they have presented during this term.
Aspire Me, Sydney On Wednesday, four year 5 students travelled to Sydney as
our school representatives on this year’s Aspire Me, Sydney excursion. They have been commended on their exemplary
behaviour and manners and were outstanding ambassadors for our school. Well done, boys! They have written reports
for this week’s newsletter.
Library Stocktake The annual school stocktake has commenced and borrowing from the library for this year has now ceased. Student,
parent and community support is requested in ensuring all
books belonging to our school are returned immediately. Many thanks for your support and cooperation with this.
High School Enrolments-2015 Year 6 students that are attending Deniliquin High School in
2015 are reminded to please take their enrolment form to the High School as soon as possible. This allows the High
School to plan and organise classes etc for 2015. If they don’t receive an enrolment form then it is presumed your
child will not be attending.

2015 School Leaders The student speeches have concluded and voting has
commenced. Our elected school leaders for 2015 will be announced at the Annual Presentation Assembly on 11
December, 2014.The calibre of the nominees is exceptionally high and selecting leaders will mean some
extremely capable students are going to miss out and be disappointed. All senior students have been reminded that
there are many leadership opportunities available to them in
the school and that a leader is not defined by a badge they wear, but by the actions they take and the way their peers
look up to them!
Swimming Our 2014 intensive swimming scheme has moved into its
second week and the improvements in the students’ water skills and swimming abilities has been phenomenal. Thanks
are extended to all the teachers, support staff and Austswim instructors who have worked to achieve these results.
PD/H/PE Syllabus As parents may be aware, the Personal Development component of this syllabus for Stage 3 students includes the
Personal Development component of Human Sexuality. This involves changes to the body at puberty, menstruation and
the reproductive process. Teachers are planning on
conducting these lessons in the coming week and parents are being informed should there be any follow-up questions
asked at home. Parents are assured that the lessons at school are factual and in accordance with syllabus
requirements.
Operation Christmas Shoebox
A letter has been sent to the school thanking the students and staff for their very generous donation of 30 shoeboxes
for this appeal. Each and every one has been received with gratitude. It is a very fine achievement and everyone
involved should be commended.
The boxes have been delivered to Wagga where they have
been taken by truck to Sydney for shipping to Cambodia. Once there, 30 children living in poverty will receive their first
ever gift.
With much appreciation and every good wish to all for a truly
happy Christmas.

Recount from Aspire Me - Sydney Camp
On Wednesday the 26th November I attended the Aspire Me,
Sydney camp. I went on this trip with a group of students
from the Riverina, including three of my friends from Edward,
Jack, Aden and Nathan. We travelled to such places as the
NSW Art Gallery, Botanical Gardens, Sydney Opera House,
The Australian Theatre for Young People drama workshop and
the School Spectacular was the icing on the cake. It presented
many young talents performing various songs, dances and oth-
er types of entertainment. All in all, the Sydney excursion was
an amazing experience that I’ll never forget. One of the fa-
vourite things that I did was walking across the Sydney Har-
bour Bridge. We travelled there by foot from the dance com-
pany. When we got there, we climbed up several flights before
we reached the landing of the bridge. Boats were leaving a
massive wake as they went under the bridge. My feet were a
bit sore but I didn’t care as it was such an amazing experience.
As we walked over the bridge, I listened to the roaring of the
cars going over. I took several pictures of the Opera House
and some boats as we walked and I looked over at the view.
When we got to the end of the bridge we sat for a minute and
had some drinks whilst we waited for the bus that took us back
to our accommodation. It came shortly after it started to spit
rain. It was awesome that we had walked over the Harbour
Bridge!
Overall this trip was an opportunity that I will keep in memory
for a life time.

Schools Spectacular
The school spectacular was spectacular. The music, sounds
and singing made you feel like you were in a room full of ele-
phants because the sound and singing was making the floor
rumble and the music deafening. My favourite act was AC/
DC’s Thunderstruck and Frozen’s, Let it Go. After some great
dancing music and singing, we go to the grand finale which
featured Waltzing Matilda. After a great finale, the show end-
ed.
