Control Cabinet - 1 (Fed from Service Point No.1)
(Bronx River Ave & Bruckner Expressway-Service Road S.B)
SIE Inspection:
- Control Cabinet was mounted on pedestal, about 1.5 foot off ground.
- Exterior condition of cabinet seen rusty with loose paint.
- Concert surrounding at the back-top is breaking apart.
- Enclosure door and lock hinge were damaged and break apart.
- Interior components are covered with dust and debris.
- Control Cabinet identification name plate, electrical information label and wiring diagram are not seen.
- Existing property line box was located near the existing control cabinet.
SIE Recommendation:
- Replacement of the control cabinet is needed.
- Design/Builder to check and restore power for circuit phases B2 and C2.
- Design/Builder to verify existing property line box condition.
- Design/Builder to inspect the existing service point and feeders.
NYC DSL Comments:
- Current conditions warrants complete replacement with new pedestal mounted cabinet at a feasible location, not refurbish.
- Existing Property Line Box condition was not indicated in report.
If feasible, it should be reused (after cleaning, resurfacing, and new frame and cover to be added).
- Wires and conduits to new Control cabinet should all be new. Wires’ size and number should conform to design.

Control Cabinet - 2 (Fed from Service Point No.2)
(Colgate Ave & Bruckner Expressway-Service Road N.B)
SIE Inspection:
- Control Cabinet was mounted on abutment wall. Located next to the drainage pipe with 2 feet off the ground.
- Exterior condition of cabinet is rusty with loose paint, especially at the lower section.
- Cabinet interior is wide open and exposed to air and dust. Right door is missing.
- Connected electrical conduits seen rusty and peeling off.
- Interior components were covered with dust and debris. Rusting started to build. Some components started to break apart.
- Control Cabinet identification name plate, electrical information label and wiring diagram are not seen.
SIE Recommendation:
- Replacement of the Control Cabinet is needed. This Control Cabinet was damaged by the corrosion and weather impact.
Control cabinet shall be installed at new location away from drainage/leaking area. Nearby exist electrical conduits shall be
replaced as well.
- Design/Builder to check and restore power for circuit phases A1 and A2 after replacement.
- Design/Builder to verify existing property line box location and condition.
- Design/Builder to inspect the existing service point and feeders.
NYC DSL Comments:
- Existing Property Line Box condition and location was not indicated in report.
If feasible, it should be reused (after cleaning, resurfacing, and new frame and cover to be added).
Wires and conduits to new Control cabinet should all be new.
Wires size and number should conform to design.
- All maintenance needed to restore Con Feed (Phase A) shall be done before construction, if same existing Property Line Box

- Control Cabinet identification name plate, electrical information label and wiring diagram are not seen.
SIE Recommendation:
- Replacement of the Control Cabinet is needed.
- Design/Builder to check and restore power for circuit phases A1 and A2.
- Design/Builder to verify existing property line box condition.
- Design/Builder to inspect the existing service point and feeders.
NYC DSL Comments:
- Existing Property Line Box condition and location was not indicated in report.
- Wiring from Property Line Box to Cabinet shall be replaced with new.
- All maintenance needed to restore Con Feed (Phase A) shall be done before construction, if same existing Property Line Box
is to be reused.

- Currently this Control Cabinet is inactive. Replacement of the Control Cabinet is needed.
- Design/Builder to verify existing property line box condition.
- Design/Builder to inspect the existing service point and feeders.
NYC DSL Comments:
- All maintenance needed to restore Con Feed (Phases A, B, and C) shall be done before construction, if same existing
Property Line Box is to be reused.
- Clarification is needed for re-routed (re-fed) load side of this control cabinet.

SIE Inspection:
- Control Cabinet was mounted on the pole with PEC on top, located about 14 feet off the ground.
- Exterior condition of cabinet seen fine.
- Interior components seen clean.
- Control Cabinet identification name plate, electrical information label and wiring diagram are not seen.
SIE Recommendation:
- Replacement of the Control Cabinet is needed.
- Design/Builder to verify existing property line box location and condition.
- Design/Builder to inspect the existing service point and feeders.
NYC DSL Comments:
- Any required highway lighting should not be connected to a Park’s Control Cabinet.

- Exterior condition of cabinet seen fine.
- Interior components seen clean.
- Control Cabinet identification name plate, electrical information label and wiring diagram are not seen.
SIE Recommendation:
- Existing to remain. Refurbishing this control cabinet was called in Arthur Sheridan Enhancement Project, PIN X731.49.
- Design/Builder to inspect the existing service point and feeders.
NYC DSL Comments:
- Any Street Lighting design or planning should be coordinated accordingly to design plans of D-263747.
