    Electronic Software DeliveryAfter Downloading Instructions

    After the product has been downloaded, use the appropriate instructions below tounpack the Deliverable and begin the installation. The following definitions may be useful.

    Deliverable:A compressed file containing one or more Installation Components. This is the file that is downloaded and placed on the local machine.Installation Components:All the files necessary for installation of the product. Usually, these consistof an executable program or script and an archive with all of the individual files of the product.License Certificate:A file, usually named liant.lic, that is attached to the electronic delivery notification e-mail. This digitally signed attachment contains information necessary to complete the installation, including your product's Serial Number.Windows Self-Extracting EXEAfter downloading a Windows Self-Extracting EXE Deliverable, follow the steps below to decompress the Deliverable and create the Installation Components.

    Save the License Certificate attached to the electronic delivery e-mail as liant.lic.

    Using Windows Explorer, locate the Deliverable in the directory that was specified as the target during the download.Open the Deliverable either by double-clicking or by right-clicking and selecting Open from the pop-up menu.The WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box will open. In the Unzip to Folder field, enter the name of an empty directory into which the product's Installation Components will be placed. This directory will be created automatically if it does notcurrently exist.Press the Unzip button to decompress the Deliverable and place the InstallationComponents into the directory.Press the Close button to terminate the WinZip Self-Extractor program.Using Windows Explorer, locate the directory into which the Installation Components were placed.

    There may be a README.TXT file in this directory that will give further instructions to begin the installation. Complete documentation, including installation instructions, is available online in accessible, PDF-based format at www.liant.com/docs. Typically, there will be a setup.exe file for Windows, and an INSTALL orinstall.sh for UNIX.

    Install the product using the appropriate installation procedure.If desired, make a backup of the Deliverable or the Installation Components at this time.Delete the Deliverable and Installation Components.UNIX GUNZIP Tar

    After downloading a UNIX GUNZIP Tar Deliverable, follow the steps below to decompress the Deliverable and create the Installation Components. These instructionsassume that gunzip has already been installed. The gunzip tool is available atwww.gzip.org, both in source form and as executables. This tool runs on a numberof platforms, including Windows. Note that other Windows ZIP tools can also decompress a GUNZIP Tar file, however care should be exercised when extracting files from the resulting Tar file. Make sure any Tar file CR/LF conversion option isturned off.

    .lic.Change the directory to the directory that contains the Deliverable following the download. The Deliverable will have a name in the form deliverable.tar.gz, where deliverable will be dependent on the downloaded file.If necessary, move this file to a machine with gunzip installed on it.Execute the following command: gunzip deliverable.tar.gz.If necessary, move the resulting file, deliverable.tar, to an empty directory onthe machine where the product is to be installed.Execute the following command: tar xvf deliverable.tar.There may be a README.TXT file in this directory that will give further instructions to begin the installation.
