Welcome to the Victoria Theatre

Our favourite time of year is upon us again. At the time of writing this, the Christmas decorations are up around the theatre and rehearsals are well under way for this year’s pantomime - Snow White. This year the wonderful Neil Hurst is returning for his 10th Victoria Theatre pantomime having climbed beanstalks, fought pirates, danced at the prince’s balls and performed to about 250,000 audience members. Have a look at some of the pictures of Neil through the ages below, what a job to have!

Comedy lovers are spoilt for choice with some of the best stand-up comedians including Jason Manford, Robin Ince and Dara O’Briain appearing live.

Dance fans will not want to miss the Siberian Ballet performing the greatest romantic ballet of all time, Swan Lake and La Fille mal gardée; one of the oldest classical ballets. Plus we have two very special shows featuring the stars of Strictly Come Dancing – Burn the Floor with Kevin Clifton and

Not forgetting the music, the tongue in cheek musical concert Vampires Rock is returning with a revamped show and this year it’s starring X Factor winner Sam Bailey. We also have the first ever Breakthrough Music Festival – an indoor music festival with 18 up and coming bands (and no mud!).

Still, they’re determined, like a pair of Atoms missing a couple of electrons, to stay positive. Collabro: Road to the Royal Albert Hall



After the success of last year’s huge sell-out theatre tour, Collabro is coming to Halifax as part of their mammoth 51 date tour across the UK. The tour will see the group perform at a variety of intimate theatres including the Victoria Theatre, before finishing the tour at the world renowned Royal Albert Hall in London.

Collabro met in 2014 for their first rehearsal at a London pub, just a month later went on to rouse the whole of Hammersmith Apollo into a standing ovation during their first ever public performance of ‘Stars’ for the Britain’s Got Talent judges. Having triumphed in their Semi-Final heat with over 63% of the votes, they then won the overall competition with one of the biggest majorities ever. This subsequently led to them joining Simon Cowell’s label Syco, and hence becoming label-mates with the likes of One Direction, Little Mix, Susan Boyle and Il Divo.

About the Victoria Theatre

HistoryTowards the end of the 19th Century a group of local businessmen led the movement for a substantial and prestigious concert hall in the centre of Halifax. In March 1897 the site at the junction of Commercial Street and Fountain Street was purchased for £8,169 and the Victoria Theatre (then called The Victoria Hall) opened in 1901. It was named in honour of Queen Victoria but she died just after it was completed. The building still retains many of the original features, including the broad staircase in the foyer, the stained glass, ornate dome above and the original Queen Victoria bust at the top of the foyer stairs.

For over 100 years the venue has acted as a magnificent architectural gateway, announcing the heritage and beauty of Halifax and the district’s commitment to culture and the arts. The Victoria Theatre has an impressive capacity of 1,518 seated and 1,875 standing, making it one of the largest and most accessible venues in the region.

The first concert was by the Halle Orchestra and since then The Victoria Theatre has played host to some of the biggest names in entertainment, including: Russell Brand, The Stone Roses, Status Quo, Morrissey and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson!

Booking Information Tickets may be purchased by telephone using Mastercard, Visa and Maestro and can be posted to you for a £1 charge. We can also reserve tickets for you. DiscountsDiscounts are available for many performances through the Passport to Leisure scheme, as well as general discounts for children and other groups. Check with the Box Office for details of any special rates available when you book your tickets. Only one discount can apply to any ticket.

Children under 2For most shows, children under the age of 2 can visit free of charge but please check individual event pages on the website for up to date ticketing information, as each show sets their own ticket price.

Theatre Support FeeNow 117 years old and maintaining most of its original features, The Victoria Theatre acts as a magnificent architectural cornerstone of the town, celebrating the heritage and beauty of Halifax and our commitment to culture and the arts. To help with the upkeep of this fabulous building and improve the visitor experience, we charge a Theatre Support Fee on all tickets. This is included in all ticket prices within this brochure.

Cancellation Protection & RefundsNo refunds are available unless a performance is cancelled. If you would like to protect your tickets against specified unforeseen circumstances such as: accidents, illnesses and failure of transport, among many others. Cancellation Protection is available at an additional £1.50 per ticket. If this is of interest, please enquire about this when booking.

AccessWheelchair accessThe Victoria Theatre offers easy access and excellent viewing locations for wheelchair users, with a level access point to the stalls from the Commercial Street entrance and accessible facilities on the stalls level. There is no wheelchair access to the Green Room Bar and Circle level but there is an alternative entrance with fewer steps for people with less severe mobility issues.

Please inform the Box Office at the time of booking if you need this service, and if your wheelchair may restrict the view of other customers.Hearing ImpairedThe Victoria Theatre has an induction loop for hearing aid users in both the auditorium stall level and the Box Office. We also offer an infra-red audio system, allowing customers to sit anywhere in the circle or stalls and adjust their individual volume dependent on where they’re sitting.
