Violation Policy and Fine Structure

The following Violation Policy and Fine Structure has been put into effect as of March 17, 2017:

1st letter = friendly reminder 2nd letter = second warning

3rd letter = final notice before assessment begins 1st fine = $25 2nd fine = $50 3rd fine = $75 4th fine = $100

$50 per month will be assessed after the 4th fine if the issue is still not remediated

*Motorized vehicles on the common areas will result in an immediate $200 fine. All other covenants

will follow the above fining structure.

The timeline of the violation letters sent will still follow the timeline given in the bylaws. Please do

your part in following the covenants to avoid any fine assessments. Thank you!

Pets and Safety

There have been some concerns in the neighborhood with dogs both on and off leashes. Please

ensure that if your dog is outside, it is either secured in your backyard or is on a leash and able to be

controlled by the person walking it at all times. Please be mindful of this if your dog exhibits

aggressive behavior and is hard to control on leash. We do not want any person or animal harmed.

The safety of all neighbors and their pets should be important to everyone. Thank you for your

assistance with this matter.

The 4th of July fireworks were a success as usual!

We want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to Phil Forrester and his family for the awesome display!

Several new residents commented that they couldn't believe how awesome the show was!

If you missed it, check out the following link:

The pre-fireworks BBQ was a success also. Several new neighbors joined the BBQ and enjoyed getting to know members of the neighborhood. Thank you to all who volunteered their time, food, sparklers, fun toys for the kids, tables and help with clean up. We appreciate everyone’s effort to

make this a fun day for the the neighborhood!

Neighborhood Business Directory

The neighborhood business directory is now available on the community website!!! The goal is for any resident who would like their business information to go out to the community to be able to do so on the directory. This will give every resident an opportunity to shop/buy/use local if and when they can! These businesses are not board endorsed, and the board strongly encourages everyone to do

all of their own research regarding licenses/bonding/etc….

There is still time to have your business listed in the directory!

CRIME WATCH UPDATE

Slow Down! Children and residents are spending more time outdoors! Please remember to obey the posted speed limits in our neighborhood!

Don't Forget to Close Your Garage Doors & Lock Your House! Also, please remember to remove valuables from your car and lock your vehicles. We need to be aware of what is happening in our

neighborhood. Let’s work together to keep our neighborhood safe and prevent Fairview Lake/Waterton from being an attractive place for thieves! If you see something suspicious or sense that a situation does not feel right, please do not hesitate to call the Police and report your findings.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s non-emergency phone number is 271-5210.

The Neighborhood Crime Watch signs are ready and will be installed in the coming weeks. Please contact Wendy McNatt if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions. We are all in this together and appreciate your concern for safety in the community!

[email protected] , 864-201-1569, or on the resident Facebook page.

Need help deterring geese?

If you are having an issue keeping geese out of your yard, there are some non-harmful methods of

deterring them from your property. Below is an article that lists some methods, one being tying

rope/fishing line across the edge of your yard about 3 inches off the ground, the geese cannot step

over the "fence" you have made. If you do attempt to use any methods of removal, please remember

the geese will bite you if they feel threatened, so please be careful!

CRIME PREVENTION

Now is the time of year when thefts increase. Let’s all look out for each other and please report any crimes that happen in our neighborhood, no matter how small they seem. Our neighborhood has experienced both vehicle and garage thefts in the past. If we work together and take some precautions, hopefully we can decrease the crime!

*Please remember if it’s not an emergency, the number we call to report is: 864-271-521o. Thank you! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT- Thefts from vehicles

During the spring and summer months, neighborhoods historically experience an elevated number of thefts from vehicles. During these thefts, the perpetrator(s) typically target unlocked vehicles where valuables are visible from the outside and/or easily located inside the vehicle. These individuals generally rely on their ability to access a large number of vehicles while circulating through the neighborhood and therefore rarely force entry for fear of making noise and risking detection.

These incidents typically occur during the overnight hours and are not reported until the next morning when the owner recognizes property missing or out of place. The items most commonly taken from vehicles are:

Global Positioning Systems (Garmin, Magellan, Tom-tom) • Radar Detectors • Cash (coins) • Prescription Medications • Firearms • Purses/Briefcases • Computers / Cell Phones

In an effort to combat this problem, we encourage residents to employ some basic preventative measures:

Lock your vehicles • Remove valuables from view • Do not leave any prescription medications or firearms in your vehicle • Park vehicles in the garage or driveway • Leave exterior lights on • Report any suspicious behavior to police during the overnight hours (911 or 864-271-5210)

• Report any incident where you believe someone has entered your vehicle without permission (i.e. glove box left open or items strewn about vehicle)
