URECPart-time (wage) and temporary contract employees can enjoy facility accessand program registration privileges at UREC and University Park (duringoperational hours) and family hour privileges (during designated family hoursonly). UREC is a multi-level fitness and wellness center with 278,515 square feetof activity space! This includes a 33-foot climbing wall, eight racquetball courts,three multi-activity gyms, two indoor tracks, fitness and cardio theatre, aquaticscenter, adventure center, locker rooms, wellness suite, equipment center, twooutdoor courtyards, and six group exercise studios. AthleticsThere is no charge for admission for regular season home events for baseball,cross country, field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer,softball, swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, track and field, andvolleyball. Balanced DukesA consortium of diverse and passionate individuals from all university divisionsand employment classifications formed the university’s Work-Life Balance andWellness Council in response to the Strategic Plan’s goal, “The university willsupport and seek to identify tools and resources to assist our employees inachieving a reasonable and satisfactory work-life balance.” CommonHealth is the employee wellness program for the Commonwealth ofVirginia and a Balanced Dukes Program. Programs cover a variety of health andwellness subjects and are presented in a variety of formats - including onsiteprograms and video presentations - that make it easy to participate.
