Welcome Welcome to the prospectus for Ernulf Academy! We hope this this introduction will give you some sense of the excellent opportunities we offer our students and the warmth of relationships that underpins our work.
Our motto is Aspire – Challenge – Excel. We have high aspirations for all of our young people. We challenge them to be the best they can be, and we support them to excel. We place great importance on attendance and punctuality, mutual respect and the right of students to learn and teachers to teach.
Our ethos is based on the celebration of success and the determination to secure further improvement. Visitors to the Academy often comment on the purposefulness of lessons and the calm, friendly conduct of students. These factors, together with the dedication of staff, mean that we are well placed to prepare each student for a bright and confident future. We look forward to working in partnership with you to help bring out the best in your child.
Please do contact the Academy if you would like to visit us as part of a normal, working day. You will be most welcome.

The St Neots Learning Partnership (SNLP)
The St Neots Learning Partnership brings together the two mainstream secondary Academies in St Neots: Ernulf Academy and Longsands Academy.
The SNLP’s purpose is to secure the best possible learning, experience and outcomes for every student.
The SNLP ensures that active, on-going collaboration characterises our work in a number of networks. Examples include collaboration with the primary schools as part of the St Neots Schools Forum.
It is our deepening relationship with primary schools that will help ensure that your son/daughter has a seamless transition from Year 6 to Year 7. Examples of work with primary and secondary colleagues include: sports leaders projects, language leaders projects and media workshops. We are also playing a major part in locality-wide activity to enhance young people’s ability to think, plan and communicate effectively.

The range of subjects and courses promotes tolerance of other cultures and faiths and prepares students for life in modern Britain.

Care and Support
Our student support system is designed to ensure that Ernulf students are able to realise their full potential. We monitor each student’s progress very carefully. Feeling safe and secure enables students to aspire to the best possible outcomes for themselves as effective learners who make the most of the opportunities offered to them.
Each student has a form tutor whose job it is to provide care, support and guidance on a daily basis. Subject teachers provide advice about subject related issues and on academic progress. Students also have a regular mentor session with their tutor; this enables the student to have a dialogue about their academic progress and set targets to support them to improve further.
In addition, we have a supportive pastoral structure which includes two Student Support Officers – non-teaching colleagues who are able to respond to students’ needs throughout the day.
This comprehensive support structure ensures that students at Ernulf Academy are happy learners.“ ”“ ”

Curriculum
Children today are growing up in a complex world that is changing more quickly than ever before. At Ernulf Academy, we aim to provide a personalised curriculum that engages students and inspires them to achieve their potential. Our curriculum is constantly evolving to meet the ever changing needs of our learners.
We have developed an innovative Key Stage 3 curriculum, which supports students at all levels. Our Key Stage 4 curriculum has also been praised by OfSTED, as it offers students the best possible choices, personalised to each student’s needs. “ ”“ ”
Students had very positive attitudes to learning, and were fully focussed on their learning. Much teaching was lively and engaging.

Teaching and Learning
Teaching and learning is at the core of what we do. Our aim is to provide the highest quality teaching and learning experience for our students, enabling them to achieve their potential.
Teachers at Ernulf Academy know their students well as individuals. This enables them to plan activities that cater for each student’s individual needs. The progress that the young people are making is closely monitored throughout their educational journey, and this is reported to parents regularly.
We expect students to be outstanding learners, who participate fully in and engage with the learning process, so that they become responsible for their own learning. We want our students to become independent, lifelong learners, and we aim to equip them with the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in the future.

I believe the breakfast club to be a great start to the day for children. My daughter enjoys meeting her peers and it also encourages children to eat breakfast.

The Ernulf sports leaders added value to the course and they are a credit to the School. I really, really enjoyed working with them!

Other Information
We will be happy to receive requests from parents who wish to visit the Academy prior to application; arrangements will be made for a guided tour and, if desired, a meeting with the Headteacher.
We work closely with our feeder primary schools, and we have a well-established transition programme for Year 6 students, which formally begins with our Open Evening in October and culminates with two transition days in the summer term. There is also a ‘New Parents’ Evening’ at this time, which enables us to build our relationship with you and pass on key information.
