“Our family has owned Spring Cottage for around eighteen years now,” says

Emily, “but over that time it has changed

quite dramatically. The original house was built

in the 1950s, but around ten years ago it was

completely renovated. All the outer walls were

pebbledashed so they had to be completely

redone, we put in new flooring, a new kitchen

and new bathrooms, and then the house

was decorated throughout to give it a more

contemporary look and feel. In fact the only

thing that stayed the same was the footprint;

friends who knew the old house say that it is

completely unrecognisable.”

“Stonely is a lovely place to live,” says Emily, “and one

of the main reasons we moved here was the school at Kimbolton,

which is very good and just a short walk from the house. It’s a

lovely place to bring up a family as there’s so much going on

and it’s very safe. As well as the school and the great selection

of shops, Kimbolton also has a tennis club, a cricket club and a

swimming pool, which is open during the school holidays. There’s

also a new cinema complex just opened in St Neots and Grafham

Water is very close by; we could actually cycle there without ever

meeting a main road.”

entrance and even it’s own separate heating system. We used it as accommodation for our au pair, but it would also be perfect for grandparents, teenagers

or just visiting friends.”
