Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time November 17, 2019

THIS WEEK IN THE PARISH

A few words from our Pastor

Our Daily Bread

I beseech you, Christ my Spring, to make your source in my heart, so that the living stream of your water may gush out from me. You are the Spring from which life flows and grace wells forth, from which light pours out on people of all nations. Those who drink of you, Christ, will be restored by the sweet flowing water; and will thirst no more; or rather they will still thirst, for those sated by the abundance of God’s Word are made to thirst the more by the sweetness they imbibe.

So many souls always hunger and thirst for you, Lord God, the Bread and spring of salvation. No fasting hunger, no parched thirst will ever destroy a man’s life if his mind eats and drinks of you. Your constant flow is drunk without cease; yet when you are drunk dry, you pour forth more abundantly to outlast the crowd of imbibers and their thirst. For you, Christ God, are all sweetness and love, and with these you can replenish rather than satiate. Always thirsting for you with greedy longing, we snatch you as you flow into us, yet our love is not satiated; so complete is our devotion that we love you unceasingly, the Christ who will give eternal life to your own.

Saint Paulinus of Nola (+431) was a bishop and a friend of Saints Martin of Tours, Ambrose, and Augustine.

Please pray for:

Those who have died.

Laura Adamache, Manuel de Castro, Mary Fikowski, Catherine Knoll, Soledad Magnaye, Antonio & Leonilda Mancuso, Agnes Mao, Peggy Nuttall, Alec Perez de Tagle, Marc Remedios, Savannah Saletros, Paul Spencer & Roberto Tinsay.

Those who are ill.

Ted Adamowski, Ryan Chester, Vicky & Thomas Dziekan, Marnie Essery, Joseph Hammell, Maria Kissinger, Lino Rama, Bruno Rinaldo, Bea Sheard, and Annette Switalska.

seeking love and support at Anawim house on your list. Anawim is a place where people can find hope and direction. It is more that just a drop-in facility. It is a place that helps people embrace their lives. This is what makes Anawim different from other programs.

We are very grateful for all the support you have provided in the past.

Again this year, we are hoping that you will be able to help make a difference.

Please take a minute to read the Christmas letter (inserted) to see what happens at Anawim!

During Advent, we will have a Christmas box for donations of new warm winter clothing.

Development and Peace

The survival of the Amazon concerns all humanity.

The Amazon is home to 1/5th of the world’s fresh water and 1/3

rd of the Earth’s forests. Its Indigenous peoples

live sustainably from its resources, but the Amazon is under threat from industrial agriculture, mining, and logging. “If the Amazon disappears, it is very likely that all humanity will disappear,” says Yesica Patiachi, a member of the Harakbut Indigenous community in Peru.

We are all interconnected. Let’s stand in solidarity with those who strive to protect our land, our waters and our lives. Let’s support For Our Common Home campaign. https://www.devp.org/en/campaign/forourcommonhome ————————————————————————
