Thursday, September 17, Day 1: DEPART USA Depart on an overnight flight from Knoxville to Budapest. Dinner and breakfast will be served on the plane.

Friday, September 18, Day 2: ARRIVAL BUDAPEST – 52nd INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS Upon arrival in Budapest, we are greeted by our English speaking tour manager and assisted with boarding the motorcoach, which takes us to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Budapest. (D)

Saturday, September 19, Day 3: BUDAPEST – EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS*Following breakfast, we board our motor coach for a panoramic tour of Budapest, driving past the City Park, Europe’s largest thermal spa, and the Budapest Zoo. We stop at the Heroes’ Square (with statues of the most famous Hungarian kings and dukes). Next, we take Andrássy Avenue to downtown Pest passing by the Opera House and St Stephen’s Basilica. Driving over the Chain Bridge, we cross over to the Buda side of the city. We stop in the Castle District, where we take a short walk to see the main attractions of the area. We walk to the Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion (where we can enjoy the beautiful panorama). During the tour, we hear a brief overview of the last 1000 years of Hungarian history. Return to the hotel in time for lunch and some rest. We recommend a visit to the Central Market Hall, where you may buy local delicacies and gifts. Later this afternoon, we are transferred to Kossuth Square for Mass, followed by the Eucharistic Candlelight Procession. Dinner is not included today. The motorcoach will transport us back to the hotel following the conclusion of the procession. Over-night in Budapest. (B)

*At the time this program was designed, the specific schedule for the activities at the Eucharis-tic Congress was not available. Registration for the Eucharistic Congress is not included in this package and may be purchased directly online or with the assistance of Lisa Morris. Transpor-tation to and from the events may not be provided due to scheduling and traffic.

Sunday, September 20, Day 4: BUDAPEST – EUCHARISTIC CONGRESSFollowing breakfast, at the hotel, we will participate in the program planned for the day by the organizers of the Eucharistic Congress, including the Mass at Heroes Square. In the afternoon we return to our hotel. Overnight in Budapest. (B, D)

Monday, September 21, Day 5: BUDAPEST – VIENNAWe depart for Vienna. En route, we stop at Esztergom to celebrate Mass at the Cathedral. We continue to Austria and the Imperial city of Vienna and settle into our hotel to enjoy an evening at leisure; perhaps to attend one of the several classical music concerts the city is famous for. Overnight in Vienna. (B)

Tuesday, Septemeber 22, Day 6: VIENNA – WINE VILLAGE VISITFollowing breakfast this morning we have a city tour which includes the famous ring passing many of Vienna’s historic buildings: the Opera house, the parliament, and the historic universi-ty building. During the city walking tour, we see the Hofburg Palace, the Spanish riding school, and St. Stephen Strasse Cathedral. We have time to pray by the Miraculous image of the Our Lady of Mariapocs, “the weeping Madonna.” Following lunch on our own, we have an afternoon at leisure with the opportunity to visit Schonbrunn Palace, the fabulous baroque summer resi-dence of the Hapsburg Emperors. Here Marie-Antoinette lived as a young girl, and six-year-old Mozart played for the empress inside the Palace. Before dinner tonight, we celebrate Mass at the Carmelite Convent, where the miraculous image of “Our Lady of the Bowed Head” is kept. Our dinner is at the village of Grinzing, in the wine-growing area just outside of Vienna. Enjoy a Heuriger dinner and a taste of the delicious local wine while being entertained by the melan-choly “Schrammein music.” Overnight in Vienna. (B, Special dinner)

Wednesday, September 23, Day 7: SALZBURG This morning, depart for Salzburg, set on the banks of the Salzach River, known as the city of music. En route, we stop at the Maria Plain Shrine to celebrate Mass. Our Lady of Maria Plain Shrine is home to a miraculous image of the Virgin Mary located above the altar where St. John Paul II prayed. We explore Salzburg with a panoramic city tour, including Mirabel Gardens, Mo-zart’s home (exterior), and other well-known sites. Conclude with a private tour of Stiegl Brewery, Austria’s largest private brewery. The highlight will be a visit to the tasting cellar where a qualified beer sommelier will serve beer specialties and complimentary food. Overnight in the Salzburg area. (B, D)

Thursday, September 24, Day 8: EAGLE’s NEST – ALTÖTTING This morning we visit the little village of Obersalzberg, the site of Hitler’s Berghof (mountain re-treat). This ‘Eagle’s Nest’ retreat was built as a teahouse and given to Hitler by his private secre-tary, Martin Mormann, as a 50th birthday present. The Eagle’s Nest remained unscathed from the bombing of the Allied Forces during WWII. Since 1952 it has been open to the public as a mountain top restaurant with a spectacular view. This afternoon we drive to Altötting to celebrate Mass at one of Germany’s most celebrated shrines – Our Lady of Altötting. The Shrine of Our Lady of Altötting has been mentioned in Europe along with other great places of pilgrimage – such as Lourdes, Fatima, and Czestochowa. The ongoing miracles are manifested by countless conversions and a return to renewed faith of the pilgrims. Over 2000 votive paintings that cover the outside walls of the chapel speak of the trust in the intercessions of the Black Madonna of Altötting. In November 1980, Pope John Paul II visited the Shrine. We take some time to visit the ‘miraculous’ statue in The Chapel of Grace and St. Konrad’s Monastery nearby. Enjoy an overnight and dinner in this beautiful small town of Altötting. (B, D)

Friday, September 25, Day 9: MARKLT AM INN – MUNICHThis morning following Mass in Altötting, we drive to Marklt am Inn, the birthplace of Pope Bene-dict, where we tour his house and see the church where he was baptized. Upon arrival in Munich, we have the afternoon at leisure. Dinner is at leisure. Overnight in Munich. (B)

Saturday, September 26, Day 10: DACHAU – MUNICHThis morning we visit the infamous concentration camp of Dachau, where many priests have lost their lives along with countless other victims. We honor their memory in prayer. In the afternoon, return to Munich for a walking city tour beginning with a visit to Marienplatz, with the world-fa-mous “Glockenspiel.” Visit the Asamkirche, dedicated to the martyr St. John Nepomuk, and the beautiful twin-towered Frauenkirche Church, the most familiar landmark of old Munich. We see the town hall, the magnificent boulevard Feldherrenhalle Ludwigsstrasse Siegestor, created by King Ludwig I in the middle of the 19th century as well as the Residenz, the palace of the kings of Bavaria, and the Hofgarten (exterior view). Tonight, Savor delicious Bavarian cuisine with a special farewell dinner in a local beer garden. Mass will be celebrated before our farewell dinner. Overnight in Munich. (B. Special dinner)

Sunday, September 27, Day 11: DEPART FOR USAThis morning we are transferred to the airport and our flight home. (B)
