At present there are four major Departments in Eurospeak College. All Departments are led by a Head of Department who work in close co-ordination with each other to ensure exceptional learning and educational programmes.

Part-time and Full-time courses are available in the following subjects:• General English Course at all levels • Cambridge Exam Preparation courses (KET / PET / FCE / CAE)• IELTS preparation course• One to one classes are also available on request

Accredited by the awarding body of the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality, UK, the department runs two programmes • Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism • Advanced Diploma in Hotel ManagementThe courses offered provide students with a much increased chance of work placement at well-known agencies and corporations which reward their staff with good salaries.

Today computer skills are essential in the work-place. If you have a knack for computers and the IT sector is your calling, you can benefit enormously from our Computing Department which enables you to earn your CLAiT (Computer Literacy and Information Technology) diploma. These courses are accredited by Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR).

The department of business at Eurospeak runs Postgraduate courses in the Business Management. These courses are designed for students looking to study business in an international and multicultural environment. The Department continuously strives to improve its industry links in order to be able to offer the students the most industry relevant education.

Eurospeak operates currently out of two buildings. The school started in the Greyfriars Centre where we taught and still teach in rooms that are ideal as class-rooms. The centre also has a large hall which we use for exams and student activities and which can also be used as a lecture hall.

The college also has another building which houses the main school office and classrooms. Eurospeak has been operating out of this building since 2002. The two campuses are only 2 minutes walk apart and are situated right in the centre of Reading, Berkshire just 6 minutes walk from the main train station and right on the main bus routes.

Eurospeak is located in the centre of a lovely town of Reading, 35 minutes from London, Oxford and Windsor. There is a direct bus service from Heathrow airport (35 minutes). Reading is also within easy reach of all the other London airports. It has one of the oldest train stations in the world (1841) which means that you can travel almost anywhere in UK directly from Reading in fast, modern trains. There is also a good bus service in the Reading area and is possible to travel by long-distance coach all over the British Isles. The centre of Reading is for pedestrians only – a very pleasant shopping street (Broad Street) with a recently built shopping Mall with the river Kennet running through the middle of it and a park where people can relax, have a picnic and admire the ancient ruins of the abbey. With its many academic centres Reading has a lively student life. This means that there are shops, bars, cafes, discos and restaurants sports clubs (Reading FC is in the Premier football division), swimming-pools, a cultural centre with a concert hall, a museum, a library and hotels. There is the famous Reading outdoor Music Festival held at the end of August each year when students flock to Reading from all over the world to listen to live performances of their favourite groups hoping that the weather will be fine.

Eurospeak considers itself fortunate to be located in Reading where students can enjoy their free time to the full. There are many houses where students can find rooms to rent within walking distance from the school. Some of our students stay with British families for a few weeks while they find the best place to live for the period of their studies.

“After studying in England, Italy and Belgium, I started my career as a school master teaching French, Philosophy and Athletics. I have also taught myself Italian, Spanish and German and understand very clearly the problems of learning to communicate in a foreign language. I was a headmaster of a boys’ preparatory boarding school in UK and then went to teach English to business people in France before returning to UK to create my own school.”

“Having taught for more than 30 years, I am confident that I know how to make learning an enjoyable as well as a beneficial experience for students of all ages. I have a reputation for being able to prepare people for examinations in a way in which they can achieve their potential. I realise it is important not to lose sight of the need to establish a good rapport with students. I like my students to leave my classes with a smile on their faces and more knowl-edge in their heads. In this way, their path to further academic studies or to a successful career will be made that much easier. “

“I have a degree in English and I first taught EFL in Milan, Italy, quite a few years ago. I've been teaching at Eurospeak for three years now, at all levels and helping students prepare for IELTS exams. I like using a lot of current affairs material and movie clips in my lessons. When not at Eurospeak, I write crime thriller books, three of which have been published in Britain and in other countries too.”

“I’ve taught for over 25 years at all levels from absolute beginners to proficiency level and over the years many of my students have kept in touch and become good friends. My degrees are in Psychology and I have found my knowledge of how we learn new things and remember them particularly useful in the classroom. At present I teach an IELTS groups and it is very satisfying helping students to achieve their IELTS score and then go on to get their degree. I feel that Eurospeak is a friendly school which treats its students as individuals and that is why I enjoy working here.“

“I have been teaching for over 12 years. I was teaching in many different countries for 7 years, including Malaysia, Japan, Australia and Spain. It was a fantastic time. For the last 5 years I have been back in England and I love being back ‘home’. At the moment I am teach-ing a First Certificate Class and Intermediate Class. We work very hard, but we also do fun things too, like Salsa dancing, trips to other towns and the best is when we go to the gorgeous countryside near to Reading.”

Tipical Day:

• 8.00 I get up and watch BBC news while getting ready for school• 9.00 I am off to school. It is just 15 minutes walk. • 9.30 I enjoy my class with my friends from different countries. It is hard work but we have fun too. • 13.00 We often go for a coffee or lunch after class with my class mates. • 14.00 I go to a charity bookshop next to my school where I work as a volunteer a few hours per week. It is a great opportunity to speak to lots of English people who are very friendly and I understand their accent much better now.• 17.00 Go shopping for food – I can even find some food from my country in the supermarket as English people like foreign food.• 18.00 Cook my dinner while chatting to my housemates. I share a house with a Chinese, Venezuelan and an Italian student. We often try each other’s food and tell each other about our countries. • 20.00 I do my homework. It does take me a good hour because it is always 2 pages of exercises but then it is important to work hard both in class and on your own to get great results.• 22.00 If it is Friday I often go dancing salsa with my friends. I could not imagine I would be into salsa before I came to UK but my Brazilian and Spanish friends have taught me some steps! There are ots of English people as well.

Living in Reading. Finding Accommodation

The thing I liked most about the school is the friendly atmosphere. I am from Slovakia and I studied in Eurospeak for 2 years. Now I have a job dealing with customers in English all day long.

Students’ TestimonialsSlavka Hroncekova Slovakia

I come from Pakistan and I am very happy in Eurospeak. There is a very open atmo-sphere, the teachers are qualified and friendly and the school is right in the centre of Reading, just right for me.

Haider Ali Pakistan

I come from Spain where I worked in a bank. I came to UK to improve my English and found Eurospeak through a friend. I came to lessons as a part-time student of English and after a year here I found a job as a Secretary, working in English. This is thanks to the help Eurospeak gave me.

All of my teachers were very experienced so I found it very easy to pick up English. There were seven students in my class so we could learn quickly.

I am from Venezuela where I worked as an industrial engineer. I came to Euro-speak to learn better English and then to sharpen my IT skills. I can see my knowl-edge increasing in every lesson. I started at a low level and now I feel much more confident. Eurospeak is like my second home.

Studying at Eurospeak really helped me to improve my knowledge of English. I got a very good grade at IELTS and I am now doing a Masters Degree in nursing at a British University. I find it easy to follow lectures in Medicine and Chemistry in English. I am very glad that I can add British Qualifications to my degree from Thailand and cannot thank Eurospeak teachers enough for helping me achieve my dream.
