From Mrs Layt ….

Since it’s March, we have left Tchaikovsky behind and our Composers of the Month are Tom Busby and Jeremy Marou! Busby Marou should be familiar to most Cresso families but we are studying them for 2 important reasons. Firstly, one of their songs “Days of Gold” has been chosen as a theme song for the Commonweatth Games starting in a few weeks. Further, another of their songs “Paint this Land” is a wonderful song recognising our soldiers and looking after our land for the future. So we’ll be singing along with our own Rockhampton singer songwriters this month instead of an orchestral composer.

The Cresso community raised $506 for

the McGrath Foundation with our Pink Day

on March 1st. This is the largest collection

ever at Crescent Lagoon so a huge thank

you everyone.

We are still to have our PINK Cricket

match – I jokingly said

we would wait until we

have 2 full weeks of

sunshine! That might be

ages away but we

might get it in Week

10??

A Little Bit Quirky

Necessary paperwork should be collected from me.

Cross Country/Go’N’Run

Cross country training will combine with Go’N’Run on

Thursday and Friday from 8am. This will be dependent on

the weather. We’ll try again this week……

Quirky’s Quotes

“I hate it when I’m singing a song and the singer gets the

words wrong.”

Thank you everyone who attended the Annual General

Meeting last month. It was good to see so many parents

attend.

As the new president, I hope to be able to keep

communication lines open with staff members and

community members alike. It is a new year and it is hoped

that more parents come to meetings to have a say and

contribute to their child/children’s education.

The next meeting is 19th March at 3:30pm in North Place,

in the Resource Centre. All parents and community

member are encouraged to come along as your presence

and input would be welcome.

Queen’s Baton Relay - Friday 23 March 2018 from

3:23pm

Across the community, hundreds of people will get the

opportunity to see the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth

Games Queen Baton as it spends quality time in the

region, arriving in Rockhampton on Friday 23 March 2018.

The Relay will begin at the Kenrick Tucker Velodrome on

Berserker Street at 3:23pm, and arrive at the post-Relay

event in Sir Raymond Huish Drive at 5:30pm. While the

Relay is travelling through the community, for the safety of

the convoy as well as surrounding onlookers, the

movement of vehicles within the closed areas will be

temporarily suspended; no movement or parking of

vehicles will be allowed. Rockhampton Regional Council,

Queensland Police and State Emergency Service have

developed a traffic management plan to close roads for

safety reasons, and provide personnel to man these

closures. The closure of roads will begin at 3:00pm,

simultaneously. The opening of roads however, will be

staged in response to the progress of the Relay, in an effort

to return traffic movements to normal as soon as possible.
