AimClinical practice guidelines are an important tool in applying evidence-based medicine to patient care, especially in a complex and rapidlyevolving field such as oncology. Indeed, several lines of evidencedemonstrate that the use of guidelines in the practice of clinicaloncology can help in treatment decisions and ultimately lead tosignificant improvement in patient outcomes. However, even in thepresence of evidence-based recommendations, adherence to practiceguidelines varies widely across countries, due to cultural andorganizational differences. The aim of this live educational workshopis to review the current standards of care for metastatic colorectalcancer (mCRC) and to provide medical oncologists with insight intoemerging targets and new treatment options for mCRC patients. Inparallel, the applicability of international guidelines for mCRCpatients’ treatment across countries will be discussed, highlightingcritical issues that lead to differences in recommendations betweencountries.

Learning objectivesAfter attending this live educational workshop, learners will be able to:

• Describe relevant molecular pathways in mCRC

• Analyse current evidence-based recommendations for mCRCpatients treatment

• Evaluate notable variations in clinical practice guidelines for mCRCacross countries

Target audienceMedical oncologists coming from Eurasia as well as North-West andSouthern Africa who are experienced in managing metastaticcolorectal cancer patients and who want to gain insight into thebiology of the disease and new treatment options.
