CELEBRATING MOMS WITH MUSIC, ART, AND CHOCOLATE

Quickly becoming known for their holiday-oriented “Pop Up” Chocolate Lounge at 1313 N. State Street, Bellingham’s award-winning Evolve Chocolate crafters will be celebrating Mother’s Day weekend with more local art, music, and chocolate.

The Chocolate Lounge will be open 5:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, and from noon – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8.

The opening of the Evolve Chocolate Lounge is timed to begin with the Allied Arts of Bellingham’s monthly downtown Art Walk. Just as May’s Art Walk theme will feature children’s art work, Evolve also will feature a child artist while continuing to showcase house-artist Julia “Joules” Martin’s textured meat-fork/hair-pick/gift-card paintings, with familiar local scenes of nature. Also featured will be furniture made by Bruce Ansell of Un-Wined Barrels of Hope, who up-cycles used wine barrels to craft practical furniture. Proceeds from furniture purchases will be donated to a local charity.

Live music will be provided throughout the entire weekend, with Nuages Gypsy Jazz headlining a very special performance on Mother’s Day from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Other favorite local musicians will be featured on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, including JP Falcon Grady, Tuesday Magee, Mathew Olsen, Rich Horton, Meinhardt Mary, Mockingbirds, Raveis & Kole.

Topping off everything will be Evolve’s own award-winning handmade chocolates, featuring their Mother’s Day Truffle Special, a pomegranate lemon that’s “tart enough to pucker up and kiss her!” They’ll also be offering their Mother’s Day Chocolate Flight of four confections and sipping chocolate served in a handmade carved wine stave. All confections are available as individual purchases or can be gift-wrapped.

Other Evolve favorites will be available, as well, including their organic Sipping Chocolate, Beer Caramels, Handmade Marshmallows, and Boozy Brownies.

As to the ultimate aims of their pop-up shop, Evolve co-owner/co-creator Shannon Fox says, “Our Chocolate Lounge is the conduit to everything Bellingham offers to excite your senses – chocolate flavor profiles to provide a multi-palate experience, art with beautiful gradients of color and texture, and music scored by the sounds of talented local musicians.
