Abstract

An Excursion trip to Agra was organized by Students Welfare Committee, RDIAS for two days i.e. 28-29 October

2018 for the students of BBA and MBA. A group of 127 of MBA & BBA went for the trip in three buses

accompanied by a Tour Organizer.

The students were accompanied by Mr. Somendra Kumar, Mr.Bharat Kumar, Ms.Akriti Chugh and Ms.Akanshs

Rehani (Faculty at RDIAS)

The trip commenced on October 28, 2018 from the college where all students assembled. It was a day journey of

5 hours. Refreshment was provided to the students during the journey. During the journey students were so

excited and played various games such as Antakshari and Damsharas.

After reaching to the hotel students had their breakfast with some leisure time and after lunch the students with

the faculty members visited Taj Mahal. at Agra, India. Taj Mahal is indeed a beautiful place. One of the most

significant Mughal Empire architectural marvels still stands in all its beauty and finesse in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The Taj Mahal is a white marble built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

In Arabic, the Taj Mahal is known as "crown of palaces". It is said to be the jewel of Islamic art in a nation that is

predominantly Hindu. As if to show case the expanse of the Mughal Empire, it combines architectures from all the

corners of the Empire including Islamic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles.

One of the most attracting parts of the visit was that, there were different people from different part of the world

who were there to see this majestic white building of Agra. The students enjoyed the visit by taking their selfless

and had explore Taj Mahal.

Attractive part of day: The evening spent with a jam session inside the hotel which was finally succeeded by

wonderful dinner arrangements.

On October 29, 2018, the next morning started with the provision of a delicious breakfast served in the resort. The

students were then taken to Agra Fort .It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until

1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi.

Major Attractiveness of Agra Fort:

Jahangir's Hauz – This is a monolithic tank, and was built by Jahangir. The tank was initially used for bathing.

It is now a part of Akbar’s Bengali Mahal.

Shahjahani Mahal – The Shahjahani Mahal is probably one of the earliest attempts of Emperor Shah Jahan to

turn a red sandstone palace into a palace of white marble.

Babur’s Baoli (step well) – Babur built a stone step well which took care of the water needs in the ancient fort

of Agra. This was probably one of the earliest modifications made to the fort.

Diwan-I-Am (Hall of Public Audience) – This hall was built by Shah Jahan. Interestingly, the hall was first

built using red sandstone but was later shell-plastered, giving it a look of white marble.

Ghaznin Gate – The Ghaznin gate actually belongs to the tomb of Mahmud of Ghazni, one of the rulers of the

Ghaznavid Empire. The gate was moved into the fort by the British for political reasons.

After the beautiful experience in the Agra Fort, the students were taken to Fatehpur Sikri Fort. Fatehpur Sikri Fort,

built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, is listed among the World Heritage Sites.

Fatehpur Sikri is considered as one of the architectural legacies of Emperor Akbar. It consists of beautiful palaces,

halls, and mosques. Some of the major monuments in Fatehpur Sikri which students had seen :

Buland Darwaza: It ranks among the important monuments in the place. This enormous gateway has a height of

54 meters and is largest gateway in the world. It was made in the year 1575 to celebrate Emperor Akbar's success

in conquering Gujarat and is a fine blend of Persian and Mughal architecture.

Diwan-i-Khas- Hall: Popularly known as the "Ekstambha Prasada", the Diwan-i-Khas served as the royal chamber

of Emperor Akbar. It is designed according to the Persian style of architecture and is decorated with fine sculpture

and precious stones. There are 4 kiosks which are located in the middle of the court.

Panch Mahal: The Panch Mahal ranks among the most fascinating buildings in Fatehpur Sikri. It is a five storey

building which was meant to be the shelter of the royal ladies and mistresses. The top story of the building offers a

panoramic view of the surrounding area.

Tomb of Salim Chisti: The tomb of renowned Sufi saint Salim Chisti is located here. The tomb is well known for its

delicate carvings and draws hundreds of pilgrims. The students had tied 3 knots there and also enjoyed Melodious

Sufi song.

The group bid goodbye to the lovely city and proceeded on the way to Delhi enjoying scenic beauty of mountains.

At 6:00 PM group had done there for lunch. After dinner we again proceeded towards Delhi and reached RDIAS at
