Who are we?Nursing Explorers is a program of the Boy Scouts of America in partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center that awards young adults ages 16 to 20 with an opportunity to explore the various nursing specialties as a career.

Why Nursing Explorers?If you are considering become a nurse, our Nursing Explorer program is for you. The Nursing Explorer program will enhance your knowledge around the field of nursing and the various nursing specialties. Our program is tailored to give you exposure to various career opportunities, life skills, service learning and character development.

Program OverviewThe Nursing Explorer program starts in October and ends in May of each year. You will attend 9 monthly sessions. You will have the opportunity to tour our state of the art medical facilities listed below:

Certification You may have the opportunity to register for CPR classes and obtain CPR certification.

Program Requirements

• The School of Nursing and Skills and Simulation Lab

• LifeFlight and Flight Communications• Labor & Delivery• Newborn Nursery Presentations

• Perioperative Services• Trauma Unit• Confidentiality (HIPPA)• Emergency• Cardiac Research

• Age 16 through 20 years old• Submit registration form / fee• Interest in health care
